Haha, worst ending ever. A few still shots and a truly horrible narrator droning on and on about really boring stuff.

I cant import my character from NWN2? I can of course recreate him from scratch but umm, that will not be the character I played through the game with. Did I miss the import thing? If they could do it in the original Baldur's Gate one would think they could here as well. Or is Mask of the betrayer a completely stand alone adventure? Did not seem like it by the OC ending what with all of us disapearing never to be seen again.

You can import your character. In fact, you're supposed too. But the game doesn't export the character after the OC ending, so you have to do it manually before you beat the king of shadows (IIRC).

Export him right after you gain the level then :) I'm actually surprised; I got to level 20 well before the KoS fight...

You get to keep what you've got equipped, except for your weapon.

I levelled when I clicked the portal right at the start in MotB. There were a few side quests I didn't do, guess thats what made me level a bit slow.

My initial impression of MotB is that it seems a lot more polished than the OC, however when I exited the barrows after defeating the Bear god the game, yes you guessed it, crashed on transfer. I am getting a bit tired of that.

If I am on the subject of peeves I have to say that the camera in the game is truly horrible, it jerks around like crazy and it can be a true pain in the ass to get an overview of the situation or even target enemies. That and the fact that apparently my compure slows down a bit even on the lowest settings makes the bigger battles a bit of a chore. I cant imagine how NWN2 can demand such high specs, WoW an almost four year old MMO looks a lot better and requires half the computer power. I know it has been adressed before but it is a shame.

joacqin, do you have your hard disk split in different partitions or is it just one?

How much space do you have on your system partition or the partition where the temp files are ?

No partitions at all, one single harddrive. Kinda smallish and I do not have much free space but should that matter?

yep, the xpac is actually better than the original

with regards to crashing, there is always a danger the game will crash, when you enter a completely new area

make sure you use a top-down camera, and set keyboard hotkeys for rotation, mwheel for zoom and middle button for tilt
this is almost maximum control over action

Yes it matters. The modules are compressed and is extracted in your temp folder. Some of the modules are really large when extracted.

Here is a quote from one of the moderators on the official NWN2 Technical Support site:

"Neverwinter Nights 2 makes use of the My Documents and the Windows Temp File Directories to hold your saved games, hak files, exported character files, temp files needed during game play, updates and more.

My personal recomendation on hard disk space:

Keep about 15GB free at all times, even after NWN 2 is installed. NWN 2 isn't the only thing that eats up disk space, other programs need space too, it's just that NWN 2 can be extremely demanding in some instances."

According to what others has posted it looks like you get no warning if you run out of free space. Not from Windows and not from NWN2. Your game will just crash.

NWN2 never crashed on me. I do happen to have tons of disk space though, so maybe crashes like that happen as Ironhawk posted.

Not to say NWN2 was bug-free... I ran into a couple of bugs of the type where the main character needed to be selected for a cut-scene to fire.

Joacquin: I, too, had a problem with crashing. Are you sure that all your drivers are up to date? I don't just mean the graphics drivers, but also the mainboard ones. I recently relized that AGP didn't work because I didn't install mine.

It might seem like a lot here but it crashed maybe six times in total in the OC. That is six times more than I accept which is why I make a big deal out of it but it is not rampant. The memory thing could be an issue as I even had to delete some stuff to be able to patch the game so I have had very little free space. My "new" HD crashed and burned when it was fairly new so I am using an old small 80gb one which fills up very rapidly.

It really sounds like it is your lack of free space.

But Fabius Maximus is correct anyway. It is a good idea to update your drivers and update Microsoft .NET too, since NWN2 makes heavy use of .NET.

.NET is just for the editor, you don't need to bother unless you actually use it

the developers for this game were very sloppy when it comes to resource conservation, so it's not surprising you need insane amounts of harddrive space just to keep it running smoothly (considering one save takes up to 150MB of space, compare that to oblivion's 4MB...), even patching process requires 7GB free space or it doesn't install properly

Guess we can all agree that Obsidian did a *very* sloppy job when they made NWN2.

My PC is a red wizard, as of yet that have had no bearing whatsoever on the story and it seems like red wizards will play a part. I can't even wear red wizard's robes even though I fulfil the criteria. Your class have no impact whatsoever on the story lines? Would have been nice if they had included some little thing for each PrC. Having Safiya look down on me from a Red Wizard perspective and educate me about them is kinda odd seeing as my PC is a higher levelled red wizard.

One thing I have gleaned from the walkthrough is that casters wont be all that useful as resting is not something you want to do much? My PC is as has been stated a wizard, will he run around shooting his crossbow for a large chunk of the game as I won't be able to rest at will?

I guess it depends on how you choose to handle your hunger.

I played Spirit Shaman, Total Supression path (I don't think I've used Devour Spirit willingly at all...) and resting was not a problem.
I had a single touch and go situation, but Treeman was near...

However, if you play evil path, the more you feed, the greater your craving becomes and your spirit bar drops faster. In such a situation, I assume resting could become a problem.

Eternal Rest (feat for Good path, slightly tricky to find) is great for acquiring snacks without increasing craving. Supress is good too (maybe even better, since you get it first).

Bottom line - keep your craving low, and you should be ok with resting, but pushing forward until you're all out of spells (even low level) before resting is good strategy, too.

resting is not really a problem in motb, you will have a fat spellbook for being a high level caster

although melee definitely has an easier time here, particulary since most npc's in the xpac are spellcasters themselves

Will I get any new spell levels as a wizard? Feels kinda pointless to take more wizard levels if all I get is a bigger variety of fourth level spells. Are there only two epic spells? The vampire and the chicken one? I am even starting thinking about taking some rogue or fighter levels or anything if it would actually benefit my character more than to fill up my spellbook with spells I do not use.

I am also wondering if I will get any crafting books? I want to make me some gear but I have no recipies and I dont remember all the recipies from the OC.

as a wizard you can learn spells from scrolls anyway, no need to level up for new spells
however, it's still worth leveling up as a wizard, since your spells become more powerful (for being a higher level caster)

with regards to epic spells, there is also a hellball and possibly one more, you should check the manual

i think there are crafting books, but the crafting is incopatible with original game, since the recipes are a lot different (= much simpler), you only need an essence and an item to craft, and then the quality of component + your character level determines the effect power

anyway, the craft guide can be found on gamefaqs.com as usual
