Standalone monitor and laptop problem

    Basically, I can't make it work. Windows sees the monitor when I put the plug in, stops seeing it when I pull the plug out, so something obviously happens. However, the monitor elects to see "no input signal", whereas it clearly and undisputably worked with the same laptop a couple of days ago. This is so sad, I mean, come, nothing has changed. Stupid stuff. What can be the reason?

    You need to use the "function" button to tell the laptop to use the standalone screen. The button I'm talking about is used in combination to another button to check battery level, adjust the brightness, stuff like that. It should be labeled "CRT/LCD" or something like that.

    I second that. The other thing you might want to try is the clicking the "Extend my Desktop" or some such in the Display Properties window. :rolling:

    to get to 'display properties' right click on an empty part of the desktop and select properties. Options that may effect things will be under the 'settings tab'. But yeah, toggling the output signal using the function key would have to be your first stop.

    Uh, guys, sorry I wasn't clear enough. In fact, it's those buttons and settings that don't work. I've tried extended desktop, clone, just the big monitor, nope, nothing works. The monitor did work with someone else's desktop computer I tried it on today.
