Does anybody know why Kid Rock turned into a county singer?

'Cause he had no career as a country singer?

I've heard him in interviews state his roots were country (he was raised with country music always playing). He went to rock initially, but now that he's getting older and more mellow he is going "back to his roots."

On a side note, his new song shamelessly copies the melody of "Werewolves of London" -- I hope his credits list it accordingly.

You know Bruno, I agree and I disagree with you on that. The opening melody sure sounds like Werewolves in London but the rest of the song sounds like something else familiar that I can't quite place at the moment but I'm sure he should be paying royalties on as well.

Actually it is good that he is growing as a person and has the ability to change his styles but I feel that he sold himself out with some of his newer music. Not sure that the name Kid Rock suits a country singer either but it would be really weird if he changed that name.

He started out as a Vanilla Ice wannabe, turned into a, hmm dunno what but I guess hardrocker is the best word and now he is a country singer. I think he goes where the money is at. He tend to release a catchy tune every fifth year or so though.

He also ripped off Metallica's "Sad But True" - anyone remembers "American bad Ass"?

I remember American Badass, but I don't remember Sad But True. I'll have to look that one up and compare.

It "samples" both "Werewolves of London" and "Sweet Home Alabama". He's touring with Skynard, so I'm guessing they're cool with it. Mr. Zevon is probably getting paid as well.

Never noticed that before, but you're completely right. The (bass)guitar and drum are almost exactly the same.

I always kept thinking it was Werewolves of London until I realized my work radio only picked up country  And yes, he does use Sweet Home Alabama, but I'm pretty sure that's been cleared.

I did not like him when he first came onto the music scene, I do not like him now, and I cannot see a time in the future that I would ever like him. He's greasy, derivative, and everything that a performer should not be. He epitomizes everything wrong with the music industry today.

I still think he should stick to acting... you all (maybe) saw that sterling performance in Joe Dirt.

Maybe...but he also has an unusual kind of charisma. Actually I disagree with derivative. I think he is original despite some copied rifts. Anyone that can play rock, rap, and country on the same album has got to be a little unique. I did like his earlier music although I have to say I wouldn't admit that in most public places.

I never did see Joe Dirt. No interest in seeing it at all, but now I might have to check it out from curiosity.
