Speaking of unrelated topics, why are you even posting such a thing in this thread?? Please find a more appropriate thread, or start a new one.

Yeah i remember that one time i hat 3 fighters..a thief..Imoen and Anomen, in my group and i thought..hey with this group i will take hime down fast and then go for Abazigal. Oooookay quit dead in a matter of ohww 10 to 15 seconds.(Give or take)

The second time against him my group hat 1 Sorcerer(PC), 1 Paladin(Saerileth :) ), 1 Fighter(Auren), 1 mage(Imoen), 1 Fighter/Thief(Amber), and Anomen...and although with 2 magic types in the group Draconis went down pretty fast. (But he took Imoen, Amber with him.) So i hat to resurrect those 2.

speaking of which, i cant decide weather to kill or free the dragon guarding abazigals lair.... both seem to be evil and good

i killed it in the end, because if you think about it dragons live for a very long time, they have great power, and are evil, that means its likely that the dragon will be evil in the future, from what ive seen cromatic dragons are all evil in forgotten realms

While I couldn't remember, Game Banshee tells me the dragon is green.

So you killed it because of actions you think it might perform in the future? Just as well it is Saerileth who is the Lawful Good paladin and not your character! ;)

actually, i am a lawful good paladin, but no offense, being a chromatic dragon its evil

also if you do release the dragon, it normally wouldnt uphold the bargin and is only letting you live so you can get rid of abazigal or something like that..... it sounds evil to me

No offense taken. Actually, my previous post was intended as nothing more than a silly post. I had actually thought the dragon was chromatic (i.e. evil).

Since this thread started as a thread about Saerlith's love talks, and has kind of morphed into a general gameplay thread (that happens to have Saerlith buried in, somewhere), I figured the requirement to post serious replies, was now, at best, a guideline! :p

Being a Paladin doesn't mean you go around killing things that are colour coded for your convenience.

The green dragon Fll'yissetat is under a geas to protect the gates to Abazigals lair, if she disobeyed, she would die, she has a compulsion to follow the orders given under the spell.

The dragon honours your agreement to exchange its freedom for the wardstone letting you past to Abazigals' lair.

Dragons are proud. If you demanded servitude of ANY of them they'd most likely attack you, chromatic OR metallic. If you attack it yourself it either responds from under the spell or welcomes the release death offers it.

Oh, and it isn't shiny. It must eat babies! Kill it! Before it destroys the realms entire!

to be honest, theres no right or wrong decision about the dragon, either decision would work for a good evil or neutral character

Some actions are more good than others. Killing a dragon simply because you believe it is an 'evil colour' is, actually, racism. Try to get over the emotional baggage that word has and think what it means. Killing a green dragon because it is green and you believe green dragons to be evil is racism. I am sure that no-one on these boards will dispute that racism is hardly the epitome of a 'good' act, ergo killing the dragon is not as 'good' as not killing it.

Now, obviously if you had evidence it was about to go and burn a bunch of villages, a pre-emptive strike could be in order. ;)

well my char dousnt know this, because its not the option he takes, but if you free the dragon it shows its pretty much preinclined to kill mortals on a whim, so i think its evil, plus my char is a paladin, i mean, can u imagine the order of the radient heart meeting a dragon and not attacking? im not saying cromatic dragons cant be good, its just (as far as i know) not heard of much, and this one seemed evil

omg, i just finished the game and played through both endings..... that bit really mad me sad, when you choose to become a god

... which clearly has to do with her being a child who is romanceable.
    Go figure...

The specific post I was responding to didn't once mention this aspect of the mod as being a point of issue. It was focused on several other aspects of the mod. I'm sure some of it is due to folks perception that the NPC is a child, but there seems to be more to it than that.

Personally, on that point, I feel it's a little silly to apply modern day values to a medieval sort of setting, much less a fantasy setting. The rules on this point have changed drastically in our world over the centuries, and, well, a fantasy world ought to be able to take even greater liberties. But whatever. I'll not deny people their right to b**th about something over and over and over and over. So have at it, if that's what turns you on.

    @Marceror

    I can understand you.
Of course, this (in this case Baldur's Gate) is only a game, moreover a fantasy game, some kind of faerie story put in a medieval setting.
And again, yes, times in the medieval era was a bit different than nowadays.
Women back then married way sooner and in a younger age (men, too).
    They died sooner as well.
But I can assure you that "we" are not "b***ching" or whatever you want to call the critics, so I suggest to stay on a more polite level.
Because - in my opinion - I do have a point.

We live now and not in the past.So a 15 year old IS considered a child.

So if a grown-up man romances a girl of this age in real life I call him a pedophile.
So is it ok then to do so in your fantasy just because in this fantasy setting it "might" be ok to do so? Dispise the situation in real life?
Now, what anyone does with his fantasy is completely up to him as long as he doesn't harm any other people to fulfill his fantasies.

But offering such a way to the public is different.
And then one should at least understand that the public is willing to comment and to critic.

I have my standarts of ethics some have others.
And in my opinion it is important to defend your values - even when occuring in "irrelevant" small portions of life like this PC game.

    One last point:
Just that some people don't misunderstand me.
I won't call people who would play this mod a pedophile just because they play it or might even enjoy it.After all it has more content than this romance issue. My point has clearly to do just with the age issue and that's all.

That is good to know hannibal. Just because i have played this mod and like it doesn't mean that i would do such a thing in real life.(Ehww in real life i am old enough to be her father. ) I just know the difference between a game and real life.

That others have such a strong moral that they do not even wish to see something like this mod in a fantasy game speaks highly of them. But like i wrote above, when i play a game i play just that..and not real life.

I find it quite ironic that so many people would bring up the issue of age in this case, but I have yet to hear of any major criticism of any mod (or D&D CRPG) for excessive violence and mass murder. I guess killing people or monsters who get in your way left and right is too heroic a thing for any criticism to apply.

How high a mountain of corpses does the protagonist's path to ascension leave behind?

Agreed, Tal, agreed. Incidentally, my PCs leave an epically high mountain behind. 'Cause we're awesome like that.

While I'm not very keen to get stuck into the whole age-debate, this post really caught my attention. I would suggest that anyone who considers 15 to automatically be a child to have a look at this site.

My point is that the age at which one is no longer considered to sexually be a child depends very much on your location in the world. While 16-18 appears to be the norm, a fair few countries have a lower threshold. The idea that, because we live in modern times (so does everyone, I suppose!), we must apply our modern customs on the age of consent is completely baseless given the complete lack of agreement on the subject. If 15 is considered a child in my country and I meet a 15 year old in a country where the age of consent is 14, are they still a child?* If you answer 'yes', who is to say your local custom is the right one? If you say 'no', who is to say that Faerun is not akin to the country I just visited?

Well given that the fantasy world you are in is an imaginary one based on your interpretation of Faerun, if you believe 15 is above the age of consent, then 15 is above the age of consent. There is no wrong answer as no-one can say your imagined world is wrong.

Ah good, hopefully you won't mind me poking at what you've said too much then. :)

*And if they continually travelled from my home country to their home country, would they get to repeatedly return to their childhood? ;)
