Okay, so after finishing Icewind Dale with both expansions I'm trying it again in Heart of Fury mode.

It's fun, but I'm actually getting a bit frustrated with my casters.

I mean, I sometimes feel that I would do better with 2xFighter 2xRanger 2xPaladin party.

Both my mages can cast 8th level spells from long time, and while spells like Power World : Blind and Abi-Dalzim's Horrid Wilting look delicious, it doesn't matter, as I can't find a way to actually learn them. I search for shops, I check everything with alt everywhere... Nothing. And while I actually found a POwer Word : Kill scroll neither of my mages can learn it, I'm not sure why.

Don't know, am I stupid or is there a problem with the game ?

    Help will be apreciated.

If you want to find spells which were introduced with HoW like "Power Word : Blind and "Abi-Dalzim's Horrid Wilting" travel from Kuldahar to Lonelywood and buy the scrolls from the Innkeeper there and from the mage on Burial Island. PWB might also be sold from the Drow merchant in chapter 6.

I can think of two possible why your mages cannot learn Power Word : Kill from the scroll:

    1) Conjuration is the opposite school to divination, so diviners cannot learn conjuration spells.
    2) You need at least 18 int for learning level 9 spells. If int is lower you can raise it temporarily with certain potions for learning those spells.

    Thanks, I'll try it.
Although I can't find any 'normal' spells either, I haven't seen Monster Summoning VI anywhere, speaking of 8th level. And I can't find Acid Storm, PW Stun, Mordekeinen's Sword and many more either.

Yeah, I figured that. And as both 9th level spells in game are Conjuration/summoning, my elf diviner is going to have her 9th level slots forever empty, which quite plainly sucks. Make me loose the will to play too. Are you aware of any mods or something that bring new spells to the game?

This I didn't know. Thanks again!

Sometimes it's beneficial to read the manual before playing. ;)

I guess the easiest solution for your problem is using dalekeeper (I never bothered with game editors myself) to change the diviner to another mage, you could change him back after scribing the level 9 spells if it's possible.
You can also just remove your diviner and replace him with another mage, you can get the replacements XP up to the same amount by exporting and reimporting into situations where you get lots of XP or using the cheat console.

I found the spells you're missing in my game, but I never bothered to cast them, so I wouldn't bother, I'm quite sure there's a list of IWD spell scrolls somewhere on the net if you absolutely have to know it. A mod which adds additional spells and other content is Auril's Bane, many like it, I don't.

Yeah, I should check 9th level spellls on planet baldursgate before making a diviner :wail:

Anyway, I could try this solutions, but my diviner is currently dead.

The worst thing about it is that she didn't die at all. I just load my game, and found her dead, without her items anywhere:mad:.

It happened before, but fortunately I had an older save. Now I don't have any save and I'm mad.

Does anybody know anything about this damn bug?
