    A moment of beauty: Wednesday, 25th of May, 2005. Istanbul. Liverpool's victory over AC Milan in the UEFA Champions league finals.
    (for those unfamiliar with it, wiki entry)

    I had always liked the club. I've grown to love it during the Olympiacos game which got them through the group stage of the competition. That game made me their fan.

    But that finals... it was magical. Unforgettable.

    I had my eyes cried out at half time and "You'll never walk alone" never sounded so touching for me. The six minutes of madness :) sent me sky high and then I just floated on that miracle till the end of the match... Bloody beautiful, IMO.

    Until the final whistle I kept biting my lip in utter horror. When it was over I started screaming and dancing and crying and singing...

    The next day I had bloodshot eyes and could barely talk. However, I couldn't stop grinning all day long though. And that was beautiful.

    You are free to laugh at this. :p

    We pulled into port after several weeks at sea and I was enjoying an evening drinking. Some shipmates of mine found a private party (which for me meant free drinks) and we all went off together.

    Arriving at the party house all my friends paired off with women leaving me with a woman as well. The girls were all sisters and cousins and I was foolish enough to not do a head count before leaving the bar. I was already in a committed relationship and had no desire to mess it up by fooling around, so I pretty much ignored her. To make matters worse, there was very little alcohol in the place.

    One of the other girls went off to use the toilet and "my date" quickly zeroed in on the sailor left behind. When Toilet Girl came back, she saw her cousin on top of the other sailor and asked "What is going on?"

    I replied, "While you were gone we decided to do a partner swap." Everyone except Toilet Girl laughed.

    Unfortunately, Toilet Girl was also "I own this house" girl. The party ended with Toilet Girl screaming and kicking us all out. My "date" went off to a hotel with Toilet Girl's sailor.

    I went back to the bar and kept drinking.

    It was beautiful.

    Those are really amazing Duffin. I wish I had a way of taking photographs of that magnification. Actually I used to have a book called "The World under the Microscope" that I loved. Things look surreal when you look at them really closely.

    -Cats
    -A sunset on a river
    -"These Mistakes Are Forever" by nubbinownz. It's a beautiful piece of music
    -Old books. New books. Libraries...You can see where I'm going with this.


    Ok now onto the deeper stuff.

    -Love (as friendship). Unconditional love for a person that allows you to give up something you value with no regrets. It seems so rare these days...
    ...I think this is why I read. So I can find this sort of thing.

    Lots of things. Animals - birds, fish, cats - I love the way they stretch. Buildings, especially old ones (the Roman stuff is just downright sexy to me). Books - in their most pristine conditions. Old books, too, though. And there's even a charm in worn, dusteaten old books. Nature, cloud formations, sunset, the golden daisies across from my window. The sun, the moon, the wind, the sea. The windows that makes the house across from mine look like a smilie face. History! And what rosy imagination does to it.

    People, too. Pretty much everyone has the potential to be beautiful, it only takes a smile or a twist of the hair.

    It's that sparkle in their eyes that makes people beautiful.

    But you know what's most beautiful of all? YOUR MUM ON A FRIDA - sorry, couldn't resist. :p
