I don't. However, people kept whining for a reference, so I posted one to shut them up. What my reference does demonstrate is that the jury is still out on the topic. So when people attempt to demonise men as abusers based on flimsy and contradictory evidence funded by biased organisations, I can only come to one conclusion: They are brainwashed misandrists. There is no consensus on the issue, so go and eat some humble pie.

I wonder how many domestic violence crimes perpetrated by women get reported, let alone followed up?

Mordea, your reference only proves that there's someone out there that believes such things, not that there's any widespread debate. There are people out there that claim contrails are being attacked by angered wind spirits that take the forms of other clouds, in an attempt to prevent mankind from poisoning Gaia. That doesn't mean there's any real debate on the existence of wind spirits in the scientific community. Oh, and I'm assuming you're counting the FBI among your 'biased organizations' and their national crime statistics among the 'flimsy and contradictory' ones?

And, also, it requires others to be brainwashed misandrists to disagree with you? Really?

You know the topic has gone horribly awry, when someone like me finds themselves nodding in agreement with NOG. Just sayin...

It proves that there are other people out there who believe such things, and can back it up with data. Ergo. The jury is still out.

As I said, there are people out there that claim contrails are being attacked by angered wind spirits that take the forms of other clouds, in an attempt to prevent mankind from poisoning Gaia. They have photos and everything, and can cite a few research papers, too (from which I suspect they take things out of context). That's not a jury still out. That's a few loons.

No, Shoshiono, you've got it all wrong. Men need to recognize their inherent inferiority and that women are Always Right and Always Victims. If a woman is upset, it is a man's fault. Always. Facts, context, reality, these things don't enter into it. Only one fact is pertinent: Men Are Evil.

If a Woman does something "wrong", it can't be wrong because a Woman did it. Her hormones, society, or most likely, an evil Man forced her to do it. She is never responsible for any evil act. Similarily, if a Man does something that 1,000,000 other people are also doing, and it is innocuous, normal, average, and unremarkable, if a Woman feels it in any way is Wrong, he must immediately be punished as brutally as possible for daring to do anything at all.

    Pretty much.

One thing I would change: women are not without evil; they are just to be allowed discretionary evil as they desire, without repercussions and with the understanding that they are doing evil as a wholly justified self-service. Questioning this will be met with severe recriminations.

Men, on the other hand, rarely do actual evil because they are too stupid. Usually their misdeads fall under the heading of incompetence or inconsideration. When they step out of line and do true evil, however, it must and will be smashed with great vigor, and it is never justified.

(It's fun to rant on about this stuff, but of course the world is made up of shades of grey.) ;)

Umm, TGS, just to be clear, she was charged with statutory rape, meaning the only crime is that the 'kid' in question (a 15 year old) was below the age of consent (apparently by a matter of months). Add to that that she pled guilty (always a help) and that, from the article, it looks like the 'kid' is the one who initiated things, and I don't find probation unreasonable. You may ask if a male teacher with a female student could get the same from the same judge, but I doubt you can answer that.

That is ridiculous. That is like Whoopie Goldberg's "It's not rape rape" comment. I don't think you will find a person alive who would believe if the circumanstances were exactly the same, but the sexes reversed a guy would get probation. I'm guessing he would be looking at ten years at a minimum and a lifetime on the sexual predator list.

NOG, from the article and the judges mouth:

so, if its a man, its sexual gratification, if its a woman, she cares about the boys feelings... rubbish.

the sentence isnt just generous, its outright rubbish

While I agree that it is likely the sentence would have been harsher if the sexes were reversed, I do believe she's earned a spot on the sexual predator list, as that list is independent of the punishment received for your actions. I imagine anyone convicted of statutory rape gets on the list.

    My thought exactly.

Boys dream about being seduced by teachers. So I read. There is apparently an entire genre in p#rn about that. So I read.

When I was in school there was an affair between a swashbuckling teacher who succumbed to the lures of a very infatuated, persistent and determined 18 year old pupil. That was utterly consensual, and I have a hard time calling that statutory rape, much less rape.

It shouldn't happen IMO, and if it was my daughter ... but still, while I understand the law and the reasoning behind it, I still don't see much point in criminalising it per se. In case of the aforementioned two, it would have only brought unnecessary devastation to two lives. To the benefit of what?

I am quite confident that girls are just as likely if not more likely to become infatuated in male teachers as boys in female ones.

I am not overly attractive but the very fact that I am below 50 means that I at first is very specific with keeping my distance to female pupils but even so I have on several occassions had to give out clear signals that the mere thought is out of the question and that is with girls over the age of consent (15) but below 18. Now if I had been a fit looker with abs of steel I am sure I would have had to beat away the little vixens with a stick.

    dmc,
I just re-read the article. She ran away with a 15 year old? Crazy. Well, that counts as stat rape in my book (and it technically is anyway). Age of consent matters.

But then, if they are truly and live and decide to marry, I would propose great leniency. The age difference is not that great as to make the liaison entirely unreasonable.
