    Oh, I definitely agree with that. It's just that if someone is a gamer and have been their entire lives, it's not realistic for a wife to think you'll just give that up once you get married. And it's not just gaming. It's unrealistic to think that someone who loves to golf for example, is suddenly going to stop golfing once they get married. Or that an avid reader is going to stop downloading to their Kindle. It is probably more appropriate to say that any activity that someone engages in frequently prior to getting married is probably something they are going to want to continue to do after they get married.

    And the reason I say that it shouldn't be a source of friction in the relationship is that if you are so into some activity, your partner would have to know about that before you got married. It shouldn't came as some huge surprise.Furthermore, provided you are meeting your family obligations of holding down a job, spending time with your wife/kids, and keeping up with the general running of the house (the typical guy chores like taking out the trash, mowing the lawn, etc.), then it shouldn't be a problem.

    That's right. But for some that doesn't leave a whole lot of time for gaming. It's a matter of time management and priorities. Some people suck at it, so it is not surprising that it causes problems in some relationships.

    Getting married and having a family does change people. It moves the center of gravity from yourself to your family. That is not only true of gaming but of other things in life as well.

    I agree - but then I'm back to where I started. I cannot believe that there are so many hard-core excessive gamers in the world to account for 15% of all divorces.

    I can't believe that there are so many hard-core excessive gamers who were able to find woman desperate enough to marry them in the first place. :p

    That's a good point - if all you do in your free time is sit in front of your computer and game, how do you meet prospective spouses? Did they deliver a pizza to your house one day while you were playing?
