I prefer BK personally, but McDs are closer and as I only ever get food from them out of sheer convenience, I generally go there. That being said, I haven't had one for months.

Between the 2, it's BK. But both are really at the bottom of my list. There's Wham! Burgers (not sure if this is a local brand), Brother's, and Jollibee (local brand) are my top 3. And there's a few more after that before I get to BK and McDonald's. However, I only eat at burger chains like once a month or once every 2 months.

Sorry - McDonald's coffee is horrendously bad. Even worse than Starbucks.

I prefer a hotdog stand to both BK and McD. :p

Depends on the toy in the kid's meal.

Mrs Bruno and I rarely go to fast food when out without kids. Although when traveling (or business lunches) I have a weakness for Popeye's, Tommy's, and Portillo's.

Hmm, well, as we do not have BK in Finland (they are going to return here apparently sometime in the "near" future)... I suppose that leaves only one choice. Except that of the two BK is better and whenever I get the chance to go to one I sure will. But I would choose neither in the end. The best fast food hamburgers are made by snack bar's that sell fast food as well (in finnish: Grillikioski).

I only really eat fastfood if I'm drunk or hungover. In both cases it really does not matter what crap I stuff into myself since it most likely won't be as poisonous as the stuff I poured in me earlier that night or the night before. So I usually go with anything that's close and affordable.

EDIT: To answer the original question. Since going across the border in hunt for food is hardly affordable or close I'll have to go with McD. Of course the local Finnish burger chain "Hesburger" absolutely dominates Turku (since this is where it's originally from) so even finding a McD close by would be a challenge. Hesburger itself is complete crap and worse than McD.

Naah, if you are drunk you gotta go to waffle house & get the hash browns. Get them all the way :Smothered, Covered, Chunked, Diced, Peppered, Capped, Topped & Country. No need for anything else, thats a meal( a large one!) in itself.
WARNING! never go to a waffle house sober! You need the alcohol in your system to kill all the "whatever" in the waffle house food.:D

As far as McD vs BK, I prefer the whopper over McD's burgers but I love the chicken nuggets from Mickie D's.

It should be pointed out that there are a lot of places to get a burger that are much better than McD or BK - for about the same price. Fuddruckers is a national chain that is good. Buffalo Wild Wings makes some good burgers. I have tried, but was not wowed with Five Guys. Same with Johnny Rockets. Better than McD or BK though.

I have never even seen, much less eaten at In-N-Out. They must be exclusively on the west coast.

Looks like they are only in California, Arizona, Nevada, Texas and Utah, with the VAST majority of their restaurants being located in CA. More than 200 in CA, and between 10 - 30 in the other states.

Well, given that I've never been to California, Texas, or Nevada, that goes a long way to explaining things. Strange that I spent a week in Salt Lake City and Phoenix, and didn't see any there - you'd think the few franchises they had would be in the major cities. Then again, it's not like I drove around looking for one...

I didn't see Fuddruckers as a fast food kind of place, at least when they had a franchise here in Edmonton. There was no drive through -- you had to go in and sit down. And you got to top your own burger! I loved that part! I was pissed when they pulled up stakes and left.

Strangely enough, for someone who lives on the other side of the world, I have actually eaten in In-N-Out burger (in Barstow, California, I believe). I can't remember if it was any good or not.

Red Robin chain is a burger specialty house, though the price goes up.

No, there's no drive through - same thing with Buffalo Wild Wings, and Red Robin (which I also put on about the same level). I was just pointing out burger joints where you can get a burger much better than a fast food burger for not much more than you'd pay at McD or BK. While I haven't eaten at BK in a while, I imagine a Whopper meal with fries and a drink is aobut $6. The regular burger, fries and drink at Fuddruckers is about $9, but as you point out, you can put on your own toppings (including jalepenos!) :yum:, you can get cheese fries instead of regular fries :yum: :yum:, and you can get a shake made with real ice cream not some strange extruded stuff at McD or BK for $1 more :yum: :yum: :yum:

And you generally get your burger about 5 minutes after you order it - admittedly that's about 4 minutes longer than it takes at McD or BK - but it's not a long wait.

The point being, unless price is the primary concern in your burger selection, or if you don't have an extra 4 minutes, there are generally much tastier alternatives than the fast food choices.

Although I would still call those places "fast food".

A decent restaurant. No junk food. They use fat and unhealthy materials. With perfect look and design.

Sometimes (very rarely): McChicken in McD. I like McChicken.

These fast food "restaurants" are surely responsible for the high number of obese people (I heard that in the USA, obesity is a great problem, and very many people must face it). And for worse things as well, if visited and eaten for long years (heart disease, stroke etc.).
