Heading off to Spellhold

    Few questions before I depart.


    1. After I finish up will I be able to travel back to my hold?


    2. Is there any particular item or equipment a newb like me might forget to bring?

    3. Say Yoshi happens to come under a spell in Spellhold, will all his gear be taking away? Or do I keep it? Once I get back I plan on either having Mazzy or Imoen take his place.



    4. Any other suggestions?

    You'll be back, not to worry.

    Just remember to bring plenty of clean underwear! Otherwise, whatever typical supplies and equipment you would bring for a long outing. There aren't any special "plot" items that you need to bring with you.

    Not really. It's all fairly self explanatory. Just make sure you've done everything you want to do before leaving, because you won't be back for a while (you can wrap up any loose ends that you forget afterwards, though).

    To add to Marceror:

    3. Save often. Although you shouldn't lose any gear, unforeseen things are known to happen in the game.

    4. Go with Saemon. Don't take the doorway to the underdark -- if you take the doorway you'll miss out on some great loot and a lot of experience. Get all the tokens (at least 15) before selecting anything -- you'll understand when you get to that point.

    Again, save often; before battle (before entering a new room) and before sleeping -- yes, even before resting.

    Quick Question guys

    When I hit with Crom Faeyr it seems to do lighting damage with a hit. Where is this coming from? Anoman is using it when he is not facing undead.





    On a side note; Anoman is a beast with Gloves of Dex, Belt of Constitution, Red Dragon Scale and Crom Faeyr. Then you just buff him up with his spells.

    There are plenty of other items that can hurt Kangaxx, you "just" need a +4 weapon.

    one is even buyable from ribald, you can get it very early in chapter 2
    it's not even that expensive.
    if need be, buy a friend scroll for less than 100g from the scroll vendor a bit further in the shop. make your mage the party leader for a moment and have him cast friends before you buy the expensive gear. and if you have the ring of human influence (which you most probably do) equip it on the mage first.
    you'll save a lot of money that way.

    I personally prefer using spells to kill off Kangaax's demi-lich form, and Jaheira is guaranteed to have Conjure Fire Elemental by the time you reach him. The big ones can hit and kill Kangaax quickly, you just need some way to protect them from spells or keep the demi-lich's attention off 'em.

    In fairness though while Crom is powerful, it's not as powerful in the hands of cleric. Note that I mentioned in an earlier thread that Crom is only really powerful in ideal circumstances. All mid-high level clerics can reach 25 strength easy with spells, so for Anomen Crom is essentially just a +4 warhammer with a bonus against golems/giants/trolls.

    Read this, they members of this board in the past compiled a list of all the weapons that can hurt Kangaxx. Read the whole thing as not everything is in the first post. The Warhammer +1, +4 vs Giant Kin works on Kangaxx for instance, but it isn't mentioned until the second page.

    Use NearInfinity to take a loot at some weapons files. A certain value connotes whether a weapon is +1, +2, +3, +4, etc. For weapons that involve a bonus to attacking certain creatures, they have to call upon this value as well. This is the reason why the Bone Club can hit +3 creatures, why the Mace of Disruption can hit +5 creatures, and so on.
