I'm running a Dragon Disciple and I'm curious to know which spells you choose for your DD or Sorcerer/es?

L1 : Magic Missile and Chromatic Orb.
L2 : Mirror image, Blur, Horror, Web, Glitterdust and Melf's Acid Arrow.
L3 : Fireball, Skulltrap, Melf's Minute Meteors and Haste.
L4 : Stoneskin, Improved Invisibility and Mordenkainen's Force Missiles and/or Greater Malison.
L5 : Animate Dead, Chaos and Cloudkill.
L6 : Chain Lightning, Tenser's Transformation and either Improved Haste and Disintegrate.
L7 : Mordenkainen's Sword, Delayed Blast Fireball and Mass Invisibility.
L8 : Abi-Dalzim's Horrid Wilting,Power Word: Blind and Spell trigger.
L9 : Wail of the Banshee, Time Stop, Chain Contingency and optionally, Wish - but only if your char has a high wisdom score.

I have to say though, i really feel like the pro's don't outweigh the cons of the dragon disciple at all.
You gain -2 Armor class, 50% Fire Resistance and +1 con, which becomes -5Armor class, 100% Fire Resistance and +2 Con at lvl 20.
The AC is nice in the beginning, but as the game goes on - AC becomes less important fast. you'll start seeing enemies with very low THAC0 that will tear straight through it even with the bonus.
The extra HP/Con is alright, but you won't be gaining enough out of it to save you from more then 1 extra hit over the HP you would have on a regular sorcerer - there's a minor advantage if using it to get to 20 con, which will give you the regen to heal you during resting/traveling.
The fire resistance, while nice, isn't really a game changer. there are other sources of fire resistance available. If you really want the fire resist, memorize something like Protection from Fire, giving you a 100% resistance from fire spells as soon as you can cast lvl 3 spells.

For all the mediocre bonuses dragon disciple gives, you're giving up an extra casting of some really great spells, like Horrid Wilting, Time Stop, Improved Alacrity, Wail of the Banshee et cetera, et cetera.

Ah, guess i forgot that's a IWD spell only, i could've sworn it was in the enhanced edition of bg2 as well.
I probably remember it being i there from one of my old playthroughs with the lost crossroads spellpack mod, so you could try that if you really want it - though i dont know if it works with the enhanced edition, and it's quite a big mod for just the 1 spell.
It's basically a souped up version of magic missile.

rest of the spell reccomendations hold up though :p

    Nice spell!!
I never did finish ID2. Got about half way I'd guess. Got stuck in that building where you have to align mirrors or something like that. I think there was a bunch of abashi running about too??

ah yeah, the ice temple. it can be a bit confusing, but i never had much trouble getting through it. there's only 3 rooms you can't access normally on the second level - 1 you can access through the teleporting painting back on the first level, and only 2 of them you need to open with the lightning shooting prism.
The 'embrace the shadow' message comfused me for a while, until i remembered to just let one of my characters stand in the shadow covering the door.
Took some damage doing it, but i was able to defeat the 'boss' inside the room just fine.

The abishai are friendly, but only as long as you don't walk in there with hurt characters. during dialogue one of them tells you it's hard for them to resist the smell of blood - if one of your characters is missing HP they might attack you. if your entire party (orr at least the person you are sending into the room) is at full health, there's no problem.

i recently replayed IWD2, and finished it like 3 weeks ago now. there is a widescreen + UI mod available for it, so maybe you'l want to give it another shot too ? :D
