Is there a way to increase the name of exported toons?

    Is there a way to increase the number of letters/numbers for a saved/exported character? As it stands you can only use 8 letters/numbers. My inquisitor is saved as "inquisit" which I understand. However other classes are a little harder such as dwarven defender or Dragon Disciple. I've got some chopped down into a sort of abbreviation but that doesn't always work.

    Just wondering if there's a mod or something that allows for longer names?

    Can't you just change the filename after exporting?

    That or use default D&D abbreviations (e.g. barbarian = bbn, dwarven defender = def, ...).

    Nope, as far as i know, 8 characters is the max.
    In the enhanced edition, you can now export characters with a filename that is longer then 8 characters. but the game will just cut off everything longer then 8 characters when actually saving the file.
    i saved a file and named it "SwashyMage" but it got saved as SwashyMa instead.
    If i now try to save a file as SwashyMage1, it will cut off the end again and try to overwrite the original SwashyMa file.

    so, best to just stick to 8 characters.

    still need to start my playthrough on my swashbuckler 15/mage, but i kind of sidelined bg2 for now in favor of another pillars of eternity playthrough.
