What type of armor is Aeger's Hide?

    I don't recall ever seeing any hide armor in the game.
    If it's studded leather then why does it give such high penalties to thieving skills?

    Regular hide armor can be bought at some stores in the game, though i can't recall which ones at the moment.
    As far as i know, it falls under leather armor, so shouldn't give any penalties.
    It's a good starting armor for a thief, giving immunity to confusion. :cool:

    The best armor for a thief to wear AC wise is the white dragon scale (scale armor, but can be worn by thieves and rangers) it doesn't give any penalties either.
    You'll need to make your way to watchers keep lvl 3 to loot the scales off a corpse first though, and i think that only cespenar can make it into an armor unless you have the bg2 tweaks installed that allows cromwell to forge those items too.

    If Aeger's is studded leather it shouldn't give:

    Miscast Arcane Magic +20%
    MS -30%
    HiS -20%
    PP -60%
    F/RT -50%
    LP -50%

    It does however provide AC 3 which IS studded isn't it? Or is that already figuring in it's +3 bonus?

    I love the armor. Use it all game sometimes. Depends if I find armor to swap it out with. I have to remember to look at it as I go. Sometimes I remember sometimes not. Regardless I love the armor. The immune to confusion is a BIG help.

    It's hide armor ... like it says. It's one AC point better than studded leather and much worse for thieves.

    Seriously, it's in the manual.

    Isn't there a pdf that came with the game for you?

    But I've never seen the thief skills be affected by armour. With the possible exception of the hide in shadows skill, all the other skills are simply their base values plus whatever some items may give as bonuses. I've never noticed any penalties on stuff like lock picking and such.
