[IMG] What do you think is better,

    A human fighter//cleric dualled at level 9
    or
    an Orc fighter//cleric

I want to dual wield Crom Faeyr with an other powerfull weapon ( probably mace )

The human will have more slots in weapons profencies, but the orc will have more HP because of the 19 CON.

The human will rock with spells, but do less damage I suppose ? ( Lower THAC0 and less attacks per round in the end )

I dont care a lot about the spells actually, most priest spells arent THAT good imo.

Do half-orcs suffer a penalty to wisdom? If so go with the human but I don;t think they do. The half-orc will work better at a tank and a cleric should never be concentrating on offensive spells. Buff him up and send him into melee. Also at level 9 a human wont have as much hp as a half-orc.

If you are going with fighter, why don't you try ranger/cleric? Strongest pc I ever made
Dual wield Crom Faeyr and fail of ages.

    I like multi-class better:

Clerics kinda stink at high levels. I find their magic boring (and the useful stuff is too slow for combat).

    If you MC, you get both a Fighter's and a Cleric's HLA's.

No "down time" with the class abilities.

These apply to ny MC combo of warrior/cleric (I think Dwarves are a better choice than Half-Orc), including the Ranger/Cleric (Much more powerful than a Fighter/Cleric, as noted above).

    Fighter/Clerics make great tanks!
Some of the high cleric spells really compliment a fighter too (e.g. blade barrier).

I often play a Dwarf Fighter/Cleric so, to answer your question, I think an Orc would be the best race to use.

I havent thought of ranger//cleric actually, what kind of bonusses do I get then and should I still dual at level 9 ? I never played ranger actually since Im 90% of the times evil , only good when playing paladdin.

The dwarf has better saving throws yes and also the extra CON point, I didnt think of that. But dwarves get 2 penalties if I remember correctly, CHA and WIS and the WIS wouldnt be welcome now would it ? ;-(

Dwarves only get a penalty to CHA yet they gain on CON and recieve better saves.

Half-Orcs have their CHA and INT penalised yet gain on STR and CON.

I agree with Drust, if you want to multi a warrior class and the cleric go with Ranger/Cleric to gain the dual wielding ability, cleric AND druid spells, not to mention the nice ranger rolls for character creation.

Crom the Powerfull, just use one / in any dual class variant. I don't know where you've seen two used, but no one uses that.

I think since Taluntain edited that message, he put those two // in there just that he could whine about that later. :D Sorry Tal, I wasn't serious. I think one / is enough.

Cleric doesn't have that good thac0 and I don't know how good they are with combined ranger, but I think you should make that a fighter/ :D /cleric instead of ranger.

I would prefer dual class Fighter-cleric human. I usually do mainly because multiclass fighters don't reach levels as high as dual ones. But a multiclass is not a bad thing, this combination seem to be very powerful. Maybe I should try!

[IMG] Without a doubt this is the thing to do:
    Human - Fighter - Beserker
Dual Class to Cleric at level 9 or 11 (9 is easier 11 gets you more Beserker abilities/THACO.

    Anyone care to discuss

With this combo you can easily solo (though I like taking a romance with a solo charecter...another post about this next!

Actually, it started long ago in first edition AD&D as a way of distinguishing at a glance between multi-classed (fighter/cleric) and dual-classed (fighter//cleric) characters.

The main bonus is that you get access to all priest (cleric and druid) spells based on your cleric level, so the ranger restriction on druid spells doesn't apply.

As far as which level, I dual at level 7 (ie. immediately). I had actually started a thread on this very question here awhile back, and I still maintain that waiting until level 9 provides no real advantage.

The best cleric spells come at the later levels.
So a Cleric[9]/Fighter[x] is not that great IMO.
And for you a Fighter[9]/Cleric[x] makes no sence
So go for a HalfOrc Fighter/Cleric. At 19Str - 19Con - 18Wis you have the best of both worlds.

And since Kalah's ring + Blade of Roses gets anyone's Char to 20, you have 2 more points for Dex n Int.

Kalah's ring = Ring of human influence. Very useful item and you get it quite early. Just add in a nymph cloak and there you go.

Actually I probably go for something like 14 str

I can put 18 dex, 19 con, 18 Wis and max Int and min CHA then, those 5 points I save with STR will go to INT instead, you get that 19 STR Girdle real quick so I dont think I will be hampered that much by the STR drop, Ill go for Crom faeyr later on so then it doesnt matter if you have natural 9 STR or 19 STR.. Only like 5 hours of gameplay with the weaker str.

For Shadows of Amn, dual-class is better. Multi-class if you intend to take that character any further.

Except that a cleric cannot use the Blade of Roses....
