[IMG] Amazon (via Sorcerers links) just dropped the bundled IWD/IWD:HOW package on my lap. Now what!?!?

I've played a ton of RPG's before, but any suggestions on class and getting started would be helpful.

Tal - I've already done a few searches through the forum and your page ;)

BTW - I'm predisposed to play paladins and rangers, and to avoid druids and bards. Correct me if this will be a mistake in this new world (I've read that druids kick booty and that bards can dig up monster experience)

    Thanks in advance! -- MAT

Play with the classes you liked to play with in the BG games. My lineup was the following:

    Paladin (Human)
    Ranger (Half Elf)
    Fighter/Thief (Dwarf)
    Cleric (Human?)
    Illusionist/Thief (Gnome)
    Conjurer (Human?)

Oh, and take your time in Easthaven because once you leave, you won't be coming back until the end of the game...

I didn't have neither Druid or Bard in my party. I must confess I regretted it. The amount of fun looking stuff I couldn't use was just such a waste.

I'd suggest trying them out, particularly as the druid with the HoW expansion becomes quite awsome I hear. (I haven't played HoW yet). When I get it I'll start off a new party with both Bard and Druid.

Besides that 2 strong fighters, a mage and a cleric perhaps?

[IMG] Great, thanks Mathetais, it's people like you that keep this site up you know! ;)

As for posting topics here, don't worry. There's not that much going on that you'd have to search before posting anything.

This was my party for IWD/HOW (it works perfectly):

    Paladin (Human)
    Ranger (Half-Elf)
    Fighter/Cleric (Dwarf)
    Fighter/Druid (Human)
    Thief (Half-Elf)
    Conjurer (Half-Elf)

Tal -- Thanks for your hard work. I'll do my best to keep the site running! In fact, my work just gave me an American Express card w/ $500 on it as a "bonus".

    Fortunately,
    1) My wife doesn't know about it;
    2) Many stores don't take AmEx
    3) Amazon does
    4) I haven't bought a cRPG or book in years (BG2 was a gift and I live at the library on lunch break).
With this little gem, I'd pre-order BG 3-10 if I could (yeah, I know there probably won't be more BG games)

On the IWD party issue - I think I'm going to try a druid as the improvements sound cool, but will probably skip a bard.

  7. I'd take the bard cause he gets some cool little gadgets + he can identify most of the stuff you pick up without identify scrolls...

And I like to have them in my party

In my opinion the best party consists of:

Paladin: (for batling and aid in an emergency)
Ranger:Half-Elf (battling and healing at higher levels)
Bard:Human (Identifying, bard songs and theiving)
    Cleric/Mage:Half-eLF (spellcasting and healing)
    Fighter/Theif:Elf (theuiving and spying)
Fighter/Druid:Half-Elf (for extra healing, battling, and attack preist spells)

It works out really great try it!
