The problem is simple, it is the first time I've played through the entire game, so I wasn't sure what to expect. So in my unknowing state I decided to solo the game as a paladin.

Eventhough I am Lv 7, AC -12 and 67 hp, Serevok still kills me in two or three hits and he never misses!

    My stats are:
    • Str 18/00
      Dex 19
      Con 18
Wis 18 (or 19 not sure)
      Int 10
Chr 19 (21 with nymphs cloak)
    Equipment

    Long sword +2 (+1 Ice)
Bastard sword +1 (+3 vs shape shifters)
    full plate mail
    gauntlets of ogre power
amulet, ring, and cloak of protection +1
    ring of protection +2
    boots of speed
    large shield +1
    Helmet of infra-vision

I also have the spider bane 2handed sword and horn of kaldazar (sp?).

If anyone can come up with some tactics to kill the stupid guy then it would be appreciated.

I wouldn't recomend going up against Sarevok in mele. Try going at him using a different approach. It will depend on who is in your party though. Use some different tactics.

Try drinking potions, lots of potions. Like Potion of Storm Giant Strength, Heroism, Invulnerability, Defense and many others.

If you need to heal yourself during battle, drink potion of invisibility and many healing potions.

Your special abilities can also help you... like protection from evil.

If you can, try to not go further into the room than nessecary. IIRC you can avoid getting Tazok and the others involved in the fight and just fight Sarevok. This will save you alot of trouble. And as Harkle said, get your hand on as many useful potions as your inventory can carry and drink them before. Be sure to check the duration of them though so they dont run out before you´re finished drinking them all.

    Good Luck :)

Fighting against Sarevok in Melee is like trying to douse-out the sun with a bucket of water! Dont even waste your time with that approach. The way I beat the final battle is with some buff spells, such as haste and Sanctuary, and lots and lots of summonded monsters. Get a couple of monster summoning wands and fill the map with monsters. Then use bows thrown weapons, and spells of course, to kill sarevok from a distance well he slaughters your many monsters. Just dont let him get close to you! Oh and you might make an attempt at charming that aweful mage, mostly to stop him from using his horrid spells on you!

If you are a Paladin, don't forget to cast "draw upon holy might" from your special skills.

Your Con = 18 and your HP is so low?

It should be in the 80s at least.
    Could be 98... :hmm:

Kovalis Darkfire > He is soloing, which means he only has his paladin. And last time I checked they couldn´t charm nor use MS wands. Or have I missed something?

Correct, he can't use any wands. Also, if you are going to cast draw upon holy might or drink potions of strength, make sure you take the gauntlets off, as they set your strength to 18/00, and no amount of potion drinking will change that. I've never went solo with a paladin in BG1, but it would be one of the harder classes to win with.

They can charm by using Nymph's Cloak or Algernon's Cloak.

BTW, how did you get all those protection +x items on your character?

    EDIT - my 200th post, yay, now I've got the cheese-gem. :D

@ Meatdog I used a mod thingy. Can't recall the name.

Thanks guys keep posting useful ideas and stuff, also should paladins be able to use the druidy like spells? 'cos the mage book is shaded but the other isn't... hope this makes sense. :)

Paladins get Clericspells at higher levels. Not sure, but I think first level 1 spell comes at lv9.

Meatdog >> It is called "No Wear limitations mod" and can downloaded here.

You could use Gatekeeper to give you more attacks per round and a lower THACO. For solo I recommend Run and Gun witha bow. With the luck of our fair lady Tymora you will succeed!

    Correct!
So 8th level Paladins get no spells in BG1 other than their special skills.

Rangers get one level one Druid spell at level 8, so they get to cast one spell in BG1. Woo-Woo!

Snitza > If he´s gonna cheat he might aswell just get a party and beat him. The thing of going solo is to get a challenge, and you dont get a challenge by cheating. But yeah, his best bet is to use a ranged weapon, if he has spent any proficency points on it that is.

[IMG] Your best bet would be to get a magic bow and arrows of piercing (+4 to hit methinks), drink a potion of speed and run around and pump Sarevok full of arrows.... Always works for me.

    I did it! :D yay!
I lost my longbow of marksmanship in candle keep so I baought a nice new composite longbow and some arrows of Biting, and a hevy crossbow of accuracy with some magic bolts.

    Seravok didn't stand a chance! :D

Now I'm playing through with the same character, and with the ease of use thing I can go up to lots of levels until I buy BG2! :p
