lock up at prologue

    at the end of the speech or when i hit done the screen locks up if i right click my mouse i can hear one of the characters responding though
    i have the same problem with icewind dale 2 as well.

    Seems that you have a problem with a video driver or something. I don't know what you should do, though. Did you install direct x ?

    i have directx 9
    all my drivers are up to date

    Hmm .. You did install the patch for IWD ?
    And try to clean out the game cache
    patches


    Delete everything you have in your game's cache.
    Else :eek: uninstall everything and reinstall everything.

    yes i have patched it
    i have yet to actually run the game so shouldnt the cache be clean already? I have reinstalled twice already

    Just been browsing having encountered this exact same problem myself, and eventually working round it. I think the problem is Win XP SP2 and the new Direct X. The solution - at least on my machine - is to go into the game configuration, graphics and tell it to operate in Open GL mode.

    A few years since I last played, but never did complete TotL, so resurrected it. Amazing how quick it runs on a full install on a decent modern PC!

    first thing to check: system requirements!

    second: drivers

    third: patches

    if it still doesn't work, check the compatibility with your OS...

    and if that still doesn't work, you might want to swtich off your computer and go for a round of golf...
