[IMG] I have both SoU and the HotU expansions, and I just (finally) finished NWN. I was wondering....Is it better to inport my NWN pc (a level 9 Paladin / Level 7 Champion of Torm) into SoU, or should I make a new pc?

I'd recommend starting a new character, unless you really just want to run through the campaign very quickly (which could be argued for, IMO, SoU doesn't really get good until the second chapter.)

Your paladin could probably deal with the whole first chapter without taking a rest.

I think both for storyline purposes and sheer challenge rating, you should start a new character.

[IMG] I noticed that when I tried the opening sequence with the kobolds....I great cleaved all of them!!! Oh well, I guess I'll try something more interesting like a Shadowdancer/Rogue or Sorcerer...

When you start that new character, trust me, you'll get tired of *not* great cleaving every kobold in the room.

SoU = Kobolds of the Undretide.

I'd go with starting a new character and then planning to take this one into HotU. That is how the expansions were designed.

It's a pity they did it like this as I finished NWN with a character loaded up with great items and powers who I was unable to carry forth into the expansion.

[IMG] I imported him, he just wipes out anything he comes up against!

I'm also wondering about the NWN ending ** SPOILER COMING **:

I didn't make it to high enough level in Port Llast to make it to the Sharwyn or Aribeth romances, and I thought the ending was very weak!!! I defeated Aribeth in battle and showed mercy when she surrendered...But at the end of the battle with the Queen Old One, I just went to see Haedraline on the AStral Plane and NWN ended...With some lame ass picture book saying that Neverwinter was saved and I could go on new adventures...But it never said what happened to Aribeth, Sharwyn, or anyone else!!!!! What a jip!

There were no romances, although at one point I I had Linu say she wanted to get funky when it was all over.

You can find out what happened to Aribeth and all of the henchmen except for Bodyknock in HotU.

[IMG] So...If HotU picks up where NWN left off, should I just skip SoU?

No, actually HotU picks up where SoU left off. It just so happens that the craziness in Waterdeep attracts a lot of the major players from the Neverwinter campaign (and I didn't mention all of them :p ).

The game dialog takes the perspective that you are the person from SoU, and that "the hero of Neverwinter" is another person.

That is correct. The SoU campaign is supposed to be happening at about the same time as the Neverwinter plague, just in a different location. There are stories that have been told of the "Hero of Neverwinter" by bards and such so the story is known, but not all of the details.

The expansion campaigns are better than the original game OC and being able to take your character from one to the next is a nice touch. :)

Yeah, I played HotU with the hero of Neverwinter, and was very disappointed when Aribeth didn't recognize me even though I still had her ring :)

[IMG] Fickle? Fickle! Ha! She acted like she didn't know who I was! Me, who saved her soul!

And then what does she do after traveling together with that Orcish Bard fighting side by side? What does she do? Betrays me, that's what!

It's a damned good thing I had Mephistopheles' True Name on hand, or I would have been in big, big trouble.

Hmph... At least she apologized afterwards for the betrayal, but she never acknowledged what an important part I played in her life before her death... Fickle. Hmph!

All women but Viconia, you mean. Once you work through a few things, she's loyal and stable!

You could always play through SoU with a new character, then choose who you like better when you start HotU.

(I've finished the second two, but I admit I'm still working on the OC)

I second that, paladins are a lot of fun in SoU and there's a little special side quest just for them that give s very nice item, that mine used all the way to the end of HotU.

Aslo my paladin had no trouble whatsoever mopping up mephistopheles, they are built especially well for those situations.

what item is this? I don't remeber any SoU items that were good enough to be kept all the way through!
