I searched the forums but couldn't really find a answer.

I want to play the game with fighter,Imoen,Khalid,Jaheira,Minsc and Xan. I'm now ready to go into the naskel mines and standing right in front of Minsc. My question:

-Do I talk to him now (starting the clock for Dynaheir) and take him into the mines with me so he gets the experience? (with the clock thicking)

-Do I talk to him now, go for Dynaheir to get it out of the way but loose alot of time because I'm weaker than when I would do the mines first (Further more, I would have her get killed by gnolls right away because I want Xan and she would only steal XP in the mines)?

-Do I wait completely with Minsc, and simply enter the mines with a party of 4, get Xan, beat mines, talk to minsc and then go to the stronghold (again killing Dynaheir immediately because I want to take Xan with me)? (Of course, without minsc, the mines get harder but more XP for my 4 chars).

Sorry if it seems confusing. CHOOSE :)

[IMG] Depends how good you are at the game, really. If you're a beginner then Id recommend a jaunt through the gnoll stronghold first as there's no nasty kobold commandoes, spiders or traps to deal with. However, even at low levels a pc fighter, khalid, jaheira and Imoen should have little trouble clearing out the mines when controlled by an experienced player. Up to you, really. Any experience difference you get at this point becomes less and less noticable as the game goes on, so I dont think you should be too concerned about it.

    1. I would prefer Dynaheir to Xan, but you decide.
    2. Normally, you're supposed to play with Minsc AND Dynaheir, if you don't it's cheesy somehow, IMO.
    3. If you clear the mines and go back the same way, it's perfectly possible to bring Minsc in the mines. But if you exit the mines the other way, time could run short. Besides, the Gnoll stronghold, and the way to it, can be tricky, more so than the mines...
The best is maybe to try and get stronger, then take Minsc, then do the Gnolls, then the mines. Well, you said "CHOOSE".

    I choose. :)

I got Minsc, went to the gnoll stronghold and kicked but.

I let Dynaheir get killed and collected the necessary stuff from the caves. (I'm no Newbie, I finished this game before but I used Dynaheir then. It's just, I figure, not having Magic Missile and such will make it a completely different battle experience for me, I did something similar in Icewind Dale and had a great time using summoning creatures and such in stead of magic missile)

Alright, back in Naskel now, I could look for Braga first but I don't remember really which area he's in (please, DON'T TELL). It's mining time. :)

    Thx for the advice.

I always go into the Naskel mines before gnoll stronghold. You have enough fighters and Imoen is good in finding traps. But I see, you already finished stronghold. Don't pick Xan thou except if you really like him. I just can't let him go because no NPC at the moment is good enough for replacing him (he already has >70k exp) and all I'm getting are chars with <40k exp. I should have taken Garrick while I had a chance.
