Does anyone have the official soundtrack cd of this movie? When yes, is it worth buying it?

I don't have the soundtrack, but of the songs from it that I have downloaded, I don't particularly like it, and wouldn't spend money on it. However, your taste may difer from mine :)

I like the choirs you hear when the black riders leave Barad-dur for example... all those sound-effects are great.... and it would also be great background music for D&D or Baldur's Gate...

[IMG] I just go it...I'm fairly disappointed. Not enough energy in the selections...There should be more Wagneresque epic-style music...With power and passion.

    Buy the Gladiator soundtrack instead.

I didn't have to buy it to know I didn't want it. I was terribly dissapointed in the music from the movie. At some parts it didn't seem to fit with the movie at all.

Xenecor, I had a totally different thought about it. The soundeffects.. the choirs when the black Riders left Barad Dur for example... it sounds all great....

    [IMG] Erran's rating :):):):(:(
4 main themes: Ring kinda Dvorak
    Hobbits kinda Celtic whimsey
    Black Riders Choral
    and Enya's 'May it be'
First 3 get repeated with variations and combinations. Missing - 'the Road goes ever on' and a decent chunk of Elvish singing'

Headbanger: I'm glad you liked the whole thing :D Someone should. Everyone is entitled to their opinion ofcourse. I just felt that the music could have had a bit more feeling to it. Some of it was alright. But nothing was exceptional. Just my own personal opinion.

pretty damn decent all the way through. T~he way you could get more feeling from those tracks is to rub the cd player against yourself. I am sorry i loved it.

Poodle... Don't be sorry... (unless you mean you rubbed the CD player against yourself one too many times :p)

[IMG] its ok, but i dont think that it is the best music soundtrack. They should have got a decent composer to write the music. i think that the Braveheart and Shawshank Redemption soundtracks are way way better than LOTR soundtrack. but it is worth having in your collection!

  14. [IMG] I bought it before i actually saw the film, so i had no reason not to think the track from the trailer wouldnt be on it. It isn't. SO because of that I didn't like it so much

I personally like the music on the LOTR sound track, now this is not listening music but more background music that adds atmosphere. If you like music liek this try out Hans Zimmer, Wrote some music for Gladiator, Back Draft, Thin Red Line, Hannibal, Pearl Harbour, MI2 and others

The Soundtrack is good, no great, not bad, just fun to listen to. I did buy the soundtrack before the release of the movie, and when I watched it, it was fun to recognize and be familiar with the music.
Kinda gives that extra warm ´homecoming feeling´, that feeling that most Tolkien (It´s Tolkien not Tolkein as I´ve seen many times on this Forum !) fans have as they watch the movie over and over again...

In my favorit rock/metal-music-shop in town, I saw a new cd yesterday... called A Tribute to Tolkien. Does anyone knows this one and what bands are on this cd?
