[IMG] Hey this is my first poll and wouldn't you know, it deals with Star Wars. Who would've thunk it? :p

This gets asked occassionally on Star Wars message boards, but I want to poll a different audience, you all  .

So tell me what is your favorite planet from all the Star Wars movies? Pick the one you like enough; one that you wouldn't mind living on. Judge the planet on its features, not what happened there during the movies. Which planet is initially the coolest, and then if you want, post why you think it is. Also, feel free to express what kind of planet you would like to see in Episode III and/or what kind of planet you expect to see in Episode III.

    Poll Information

[IMG] I think I am a city boy at heart! So Coruscant was my choice...With Naboo as a close second! I think flying around the center of the Empire/Republic would be the place to have fun and get into trouble! And I'm all about that!

Reasons I didn't pick the others:

    Kamino - Too watery!

    Hoth - Too Cold! Brrrr!!!

Geonosis - Too dusty! Plus those buggy guys would be a little much to put up with!

Tatooine - nice races but waaay too hot! Plus: "If there is a bright center of the universe, you're on the planet that it's farthest from!"

Yavin IV - Too jungley! But I liked the old ruins.

Bespin - Too Gassy! ;) But seriously, there's only one city...and it floats! Waay too remote a place to live!

Endor - Don't like Ewoks! 'Nuff Said!

Dagobah - Too Lonely! But massive life form readings though! How ironic?!?

    ARGH!! ^%$&(*^% STUPID BOARDS!!!

ok i'll spare you the 30 minute rant, i had long post and lost it. grumble....

    anyway....

Coruscant, when else can I rule my empire?

Actually, as a city boy Coruscant is the only choice. All the other planets are gloifies villiges (if that).

    Places to see in Ep3:
    - Coruscant (DUH!)
    - Naboo (hopefully being razed early in the movie, source of rage for Anakin and explains why it not mentioned in the OT)
    - Tatooine (Luke being delivered to the Lars)
    - Degobah (Yoda finishing it with Dooku, creating the darkside cave)
    - Alderan (Bail will actually be involved in the plot of ep3)
    - ?????? (each movie has introduced a new local, most likely a volcanic/lava world, where Obi-Wan and Anakin have a 'falling' out)
    - Hoth/Yavin/Endor/Bespin (doubtful, but they might get 'cameos' as this is it for sw movies)
    - Kamino/Genosis (very doubtful, they're the Hoth/Bespin/Yavin of the PT, one time local for plot purposes)

You forgot the Death Star!!! You DID say all Star Wars movies didn't you? I want to live on a planet that can distroy other planets! :p  :p

But since it wasn't listed I chose Coruscant, just because I grew up near Los Angles, CA and I love the city, although Coruscant could use a beach or two!!! :rolling:

    That's Naboo for me.

Wasn't Yavin IV a moon of a very large planet?

Endor is also Middle Earth in Sindarin. :p

I choose Naboo, as that's where I'm most likely to find a city that's not too big, but not too small either. Plus, the inhabitants seem friendly enough.

    Coruscant. One huge city. Ugh!

[IMG] I was waiting for someone to get technical on me :p . Endor and Yavin IV are moons. The Death Star is a space station that gets confused for being a "small moon". But I left the Death Star out because it's still a space station and it's man-made.

Good job so far on the voting and all guys, but eh one slight difficulty. It won't let me vote in the poll, and you can't view results without voting ( I wanted it to be like that.) So besides logging on another computer and checking from there, is there some option I can enable or something to do where I can see the poll results?

I picked Naboo. It's all about the rolling hills, baby. You just gotta have the rolling hills.

For me, Coruscant came as a close second choice, seeing as I'm a city boy and loving it.

Yavin IV is attractive, but I need some urban technology.

Kamino is interesting, I always wanted to live in the middle of a raging sea.

[IMG] Well it looks like Coruscant and Naboo have taken the majority. There was more support for Naboo than I had expected. I must say I love them all, but I do have my favorites:

    1. Coruscant (so much goes on here, it's the hub of the universe)
    2. Dagobah (sometimes I think being emersed in world full of life yet no other intelligent species would be a welcome get-a-way, but not a permanent place of residence)
    3. Yavin IV (the same premise as Dagobah, I guess I just prefer swamps over jungles, bonus: ancient temples)
    4. Endor (the same premise again just that I prefer swamps over jungles over forests, bonus: Ewoks "Short help is better than no help Chewie")
    5. Naboo (More difficult because it's more like Earth in that it's more well-rounded with beautiful cities and plains and then swamps, plus it has no molten core, how freaky)
    6. Kamino (I would stay inside because nothing about constant storms amuses me :p , on the other hand the Kaminoans seem cool to hang out with, too bad they can see colors we can't, thus the "white" interior look of their cities)
    7. Bespin (Much like Kamino, must have a ship to get "outside", however, if I fell off the railing, I'd rather fall into a raging ocean than through endless clouds :p )
    8. Tatooine (Yeah, it's getting hot in here, and I don't want to see Jawas taking off their clothes ;) )
    9. Geonosis (I'd be paranoid if I lived on this world - insect like structures, not to mention the Geonosians can blend in with the rock. Yikes, not my idea of fun.)
    10. Hoth (There's not enough life on this ice-cube to fill a spacecruiser, besides taun tauns don't smell pleasant and wampas could use some dining ettiquite.)

    About Episode III:

Coruscant, I agree, I'm sure it will be in. The Republic falls, the Empire rises. It's the how that gets exciting

Naboo, again I agree. And I agree that something is going to happen to Naboo. It's part of Anakin's youth (he helped save it), it's where the love of his life is from and we all know that relationship isn't going to last, Anakin reveals his connection to it in AOTC, he loves Naboo more than Tatooine (thus all the more better that Naboo has a nasty fate in the same Episode that Anakin turns to the dark side), Palpatine spent too much effort into securing it in TPM, so much effort went into stopping that as well in TPM. However, because we don't see it in the orginal trilogy is not good enough for me. We don't see many of the planets in the SW universe period. That doesn't mean they aren't there. So it's not for that reason that I think Naboo will be in Episode III, but for the ones listed above.

Tatooine, yes. Shooting for this was done during shooting during AOTC. It's been confirmed and is no secret. What does this tell us? The footage isn't that long. It does not tell us that Obi-Wan gives young Luke to Anakin's remaining "family", Owen and Beru. But of course that is the most logical guess.

Alderaan, here is where we disagree. In the EU it says Alderaan is almost ruined during the Clone Wars, and as a result weapons are banned and Alderaan rebuilds itself. That's all fine and great but it doesn't have to be shown. Bail Organa will play a larger role, but it doesn't have to be on Alderaan. We can know that Alderaan is Bail and Leia's destination, we don't *have* to see that. Apparently it's been decided that we do need to see Luke's destination. Perhaps because Obi-Wan is with him. It seems there will be three big splits sometime during Episode III (more than likely the end) 1 being Obi-Wan and Luke to Tatooine, 2 being Bail and Leia to Alderaan, and 3 being Yoda to Dagobah. Will all 3 be implied? Yes I'm sure. Will all 3 be shown? I doubt it.
Consider this > How more tragic is it when Alderaan is blown to pieces in Episode IV, because we've never actually gotten to see it? We've been hearing about it since Episode I, and then in Episode IV they say "We're going to Alderaan." Yipee! And then bam the Empire destroys it. Doesn't that piss you off and make the loss even worse? Here's a great place we could have seen but that damn Empire destroyed it

As for a new location, why not? Every new episode has had at least one.

But this lava world business? I strongly disagree. It's too mainstream and it's a story that some fans have taken and run with. I'd say from past prequel experience, that Lucas will come up with something different, not what everyone expects.

Thanks for your votes and comments!

Arabwel: Corellia is another planet that might merit a cameo (maybe with the pre-teen Han some ppl want), would be a good location for a space battle with it's ship yards.

Big B: Speaking as a 20 year obsessed fan-boy, if Kenobi and Anakin don't have a show down on a lava world/volocano/reactor I'll be very disappointed. I'm not sure which of the OT novelizations mentioned it, but it is fairly accepted that Vader is in the iron lung cause Obi-Wan threw his butt into some lava. If you think Ewoks and Gungans upset some fan-boys (neither of which bothered me, I quite enjoyed watching my forces masacare them) just imagine the reaction if the ultimte scene we've been waiting for is denied us. Lucas does like to surprise us, but I think the slightly negative reaction to some things in TPM affected how he made AotC. No way will he deny us a great Obi-Wan/Anakin showdown, it may occur in a way we don't expect, but it WILL end with the whiny skywalker (is he whiny skywalker version 1 or 2? darn prequels) tossed in something hot.
I agree with you about the 'survivers' departing. Till I saw the final scene of AotC I was favoring a ESB re-creation with Bail and Padme (holding a baby) in the Luke and Leia spots with the droids and Yoda watching Obi-Wan descend to Tatoonie, before cutting to the surface.

One problem with speculation is that there is so much material (both cannon and eu) that could be drawn from, the movie could easily be four hours. We just have to wait another 2 1/2 years to see what the great flanneled one includes.

[IMG] And speaking as a 21 year-old obsessed fanboy, Obi-Wan will not toss Anakin into lava. The only official info to be found on this subject is one paragraph of Anakin Skywalker's databank on the official site, found here and this is what it says:

Sustaining grievous injuries at the hands of his former master, Obi-Wan Kenobi, Vader required cybernetic enhancements and replacements to sustain him. His pure innocent self seemingly lost forever, Darth Vader cast a dark pall over the galaxy, as he was one of the foremost agents responsible for the elimination of the Jedi order.

No mention of lava or nuclear reactors. And not much details in between. I'm not denying there won't be a showdown between Anakin and Obi-Wan, I'm just denying any supposedly known details of this encounter - such as a lava pit that *has* to be there, and that Anakin *has* to fall in. It is mentioned in the old novelizations, but then again so is it mentioned that Owen Lars was Obi-Wan's brother and just as I suspected that Lucas would override that, I suspect he will do the same about this lava business.

Speculation is fun though. And this is the last film there is to speculate about.

And I know you weren't being totally serious but it would do you good to get that fantastical idea of Episode III being 4 hours long out of your head. Only in a fanboy's wet dreams will that happen.
