    hi there

i ve decided to go through the saga again but this time with installing TOTSC to eventually import the character in SOA (i'm not modding)

so i was wondering which was the proper order to complete the quests: sarevok first, then ulgoth + durlag, or the other way round?

IIRC, the game finishes the moment you defeat Sarevok. If you want to do the ToTSC missions, do them first.

Colthun is correct, you have to do TotSC first, the final save is right as you enter the temple.

you mean you aren't allowed to make a final save AFTER you kill sarevok? i'm asking this since you're supposed to import your character in BG2 thereof the final save

that's why i was thinking it be better i slay sarevok before visiting ulgoth so that his death be recorded in my character's personal deathtoll

Soon as he dies it skips to the credits and end movie, so there is no chance. It would be cool if you could import from after killing them for the little extra xp, and yes the deathtoll. I guess this is the designer's way of making sure the nifty item's from the expansion find use.

alright so in fact you don't even have the choice of the quest order

then i guess the only way to bypass this problem would be to install the expansion only after you complete bg1 and therefrom import your character

I always did the quests after killing Sarevok as it seemed a little stupid that you would be off sailing after Balduran's ship when your psychotic brother is ripping his way through Baldur's Gate after you. It also ties nicely in with BGII if you are a RPer, i.e shorten your party to those members in Irenicus' dungeon when you are travelling around doing the expansion quests.

i don't get it as it's been said previously that when you kill sarevok the game ends instantly without letting you save, and that the final save occurs at a point of the game where you cannot turn back

so how is it that you can actually move on to the expansion quests after having slain sarevok?

When you enter the temple where you fight Sarevok, the game makes a Final Save (before the fight). I would assume Duffin is talking about fighting Sarevok and then loading that Final Save to go do the TotSC areas. You don't get the experience from the last fight, but that's about it.

Actually, if you go by the BG2 storyline, you had a full party of six:
Charname, Imoen, Jaheira, Khalid, Minsc, and Dynaheir. Irenicus killed Dynaheir in front of Minsc, and you find Khalid's body after going through the portal to the second level. So, you don't have to shorten your party at all.

Just making sure that the characters that don't start with you in bg2 are killed in battle and not resurrected. It's a bit similar to people sending Khalid into battle without weapons or armor so he definitely will get killed and as such can keep Jaheira without having to keep Khalid.
