    [IMG] Just wondering...
I think that before the patch for the game was available, you could stash all of the cool drow armour and the piwafwi cloak in the bag of holding and keep it on the surface.
Now after I had the patch installed, it was all dust even before I took it out of the bag. Did the patch fix this to work properly or?

[IMG] Do you mean to say that you could leave the armour and stuff in the bag of holding and then take it out later (even in sunlight) and it would stay together and not disintergrate into dust????

That would be really cool if it was true.

It was. I'm 100% sure I've read about it here. Search back if you want to bother, I'm sure you'll find some info about it.

[IMG] It's a bit academic for me anyway since I've already installed the patch. Oh well I can wistfully dream can't I? :o

Put it on an NPC and dismiss them back to the surface. When you return, ask that NPC back into your party and you'll have all your Drow equipment in place.

Well I know about that one, but that wasn't the question. I was not about to let someone go just so that I could keep the armour. Pretty lame. I just thought if that handy trick with the baggie worked, it'd be that much better.
But it proved that leaving all those items behind was just as well. The game was turning into no challenge at all with those armours giving me such low AC. It's more challening without them. ;)

Well I held off on the patch for a bit but It didn't change anything for me. From dust Adamantium once was, to dust it returned. Pre-patch and Post-patch. I opened up my back of holding in either case only to find dust.

However, I am under the impression that Bioware released... a slightly unstable product when it comes to consistancies. If you read that someone came up from the Underdark with Adamantium items in their Bag of Holding then... who knows... it very well could've happened. However, it NEVER happened for me.

Also, I never could accept the premise that Adamantium would turn into dust due to sunlight. It's a composite metal that can withstand far more than the ultimate tempered steel. I wonder where they came up with such nonsense? I don't recall that in the P & P version. I do recall something similar to it in the Siver Blades CRPG's however.

[IMG] Well it happened to me :) I think you may have read a post of mine Tal. Anyway, when I was in the Underdark, I kept a drow medium shield +3 in my bag of holding after I bought that +5 shield from the drow merchant(the Watcher?). Well, I forgot it was in there, and when I was unpacking in the Planar Sphere, low and behold, there it was. So it did happen for me. However, I still can't verify if the Drow shield can be used in the sunlight. I finished that game last night, and the shield was still sitting in a chest in the Sphere. Since it held up inside the Sphere, though, I would think it's safe to assume it can be used inside a structure or perhaps underground or at night where sunlight can't hit it. I can't help you with information about before/after patch installation because I never installed it.

I'd bet, game design-wise, that as long as it's not listed in your inventory at the end of that level where you pop to the surface, sometimes, if the stars are aligned and you sacrifice a goat, maybe then, it would stay in the bag.

    maybe.

but that goat thing might work...

My question is, why don't the Drow just paint the stuff black? Wouln't that keep the sun off it?

[IMG] Well for one thing, you're not a Drow, and the problem is not in the coating of equipment, but in the actual material. It doesn't just rust or something, adamantite literally turns to dust when exposed to sunlight. However silly that may sound. This is a fantasy world anyway, and you could always say that it's enchanted so that no "surfacers" could use it's supreme abilities.

[IMG] Is that why the drow newer really have any success in their invasion of the upper world?
Their armor and weapons turn to dust leaving them naked?

I was reading through this topic when I noted Sylvus's post about dismissing NPC's. I was about to mention that. I was getting pissed off at Jaheira so I dismiseed her since I still had Aerie and Jaheira is pretty much useless. When I calmed down and got her back, I had forgotten that she had Drow Armor on. I was supriesed to see this but I didn't argue, who would. It is true. When you dismiss an NPC to the surface when Drow Armour on, It wll not be dust when you find them again. Try It

Sorl: Among other things, yes. ;)
Of course, Drow never want to stay above ground for longer periods of time since they can't tolerate sunlight, their innate magical abilities fade with time, and on top of it, every single living being out there wants nothing more but to kill them all.
Things such as that complicate things a bit. ;)

[IMG] One thing that confused me at first was that I was confusing the FR adamantite with the adamantite from X-men. No real relevance here, I just wondered if anyone else had this problem too.

Also with Tal's post above (I assume you're using Drizzt as an example), not all of the inate skills fade. Levitation certainly faded, but Faerie Fire hasn't faded. I think is has something to do with the Piwafai, 'cos it enhances the natural abilities. So logically the skills don't fade there just not strong enough to affect the realm.

Yea, I forgot to put "some of" in front of their magical abilities. It was meant that way.
