if you have any, list traits that make you a "geek"

    mine are:
like sci-fi and d&d more than life it self
wear glasses (although they are stylish)
    works as computer programmer/software engineer
favorite quote ever is: "luke, i am your father" followed by luke sreaming: NOOOOO!!"
has an insanely hot former chearleading fiance (why do geeks get hot babes?)
and likes to spell klingon in his alphabet cereal

however i do have admirable traits like intelligent, athletic (to the extent of weightlifting and basketball only) and well-mannered, decent looking

    what are your traits?

    [IMG] Hmmm...Geeky traits:

Sci Fi and D&D (easily my biggest, best? Worst?) :D I still paint the little lead miniatures (BTW - I'm pretty good at it!)

I still like to have cocoa puffs while watching Saturday morning cartoons

I've had a crush on Josie from Josie and the Pussycats since I was 7 (needless to say, I'm looking forward to the movie, although it looks terrible!)

I work for a bank (I don't know about geeky, but it's a long way from the astronaut or pirate that I wanted to be)

Can write and understand Elven, Russian, and French

I have over 700 posts on this board! :D

    I answered this post! :D ;)

    1. I have contacts (not glasses) but can't see the Big "E" on the eye-chart without them.
    2. Regulary got the crap beat out of me in elementary school and junior high (pre-growth spurt, now I'm 6'3" and 230#)

    3. My best dates in high school were with NPC's.

    4. I read Sir Thoman Malory's "La Morte de Arthur" in 6th grade

    5. I didn't watched an entire football game all season.

    6. I know more about Roland or Galahad than about Sammy Sosa or Koby Briant.

    7. I couldn't get a date to my senior prom, so I had to go with my sisters room-mate. (On the plus side of that one, she was a college girl and hot!)

    I forgot to add:

    8. Still watch Thundercats on Cartoon Network, and in Jr. High got real mad when Lady J on GI Joe did cartwheels and kicks in her skirt, and you couldn't see her panties!

  7. Seric Exz Guest

Geeks of the world, arise and be beautiful! I am a geek with a fashion statement, but a geek nonetheless. :D

The fact that Johnny Bravo is my hero, just adds to my geekiness. (or 'geekdom', or whatever).

I wanted to use the word 'avid' in this post, but I'm not sure what it means. (now where did I put that blasted dictionary?)

Wait wait wait... you're all telling me that watching cartoons is abnormal for our age? I'm in trouble...

well, in any case, here are mine:

    1. I have love my computer more than any girlfriends I've ever had. (nothing comes between us besides a power-outage)

    2. I am almost constantly thinking about D&D. I like to classify people. Ex: "Oh, I'd say he's got about 13 Dex." or "I think he's Neutral-Good." Most of my friends and my jargon was derived from D&D.

    3. I am in and have had programming classes.

    4. I do make A's and B's in my classes and always stay quiet through them.

    5. I love sci-fi and fantasy shows/books. (This is just a must. It's really the standard.)

    6. I don't wear glasses, but I carry around my graphing calculator in my pocket just in case I need to know "sin 63 * pi" for some bizzare reason. And in my other pocket I carry my dice just in case I need to make an attack roll on one of my friends. (Beat that!)

I'm sure there are many more things, but I can't think of them currently. (Either that or I just don't want to tell you.)

    [IMG] Geeky traits?

    1. I speak three languages. And I'm American?
    2. I hate watching sports
    3. I'm a philosophy nerd
(Un) fortunately, my non-geeky traits outweigh my geeky traits. Many are surprised to find I am truly a geek after getting to know me. As for geeks having hot wives. Well, there's got to be some balance in the universe, doesn't there?

Ally McBeal?! wow... I used to think it was funny (I saw the 1st, the ass grabbing thing) then I realized that the whole series was about her insecurities and woulda, shoulda, coulda's. I'd rather watch something else than 30mins to an hour of nothing but her whiny nasal voice and stringbead body ;) There's always the Cindy Margolis show... hehe :D

[IMG] Geek stuff? Well, except news and really good movies I don't watch TV, I choose to enjoy my computer instead. I'm going to start with DirectX programming in C++, and it seems to me like you have to be kind of adicted to learn this stuff. Next easter my friends and I will participate in the PC demo competition at the world largest computer party (which we were on this year and will be on every year from now on) with our C++ programmed animation (downloaded some heavy tutorials today).

Other than that I read fantasy, fantasy and only fantasy (Robert Jordan's the best!), and I play almost only fantasy games on my computer. I will work the whole next summer to buy a new computer and a .22 long rifle (watch out evil pigeons). But I have started lifting some wheights to at least not look like a complete nerd. I'm making real progress: 10kg more in benchpress on one month! But one month ago I managed only 45, so I still have a way to go.

I am also planning to travel a long distance (several hours on train) next winter just to watch "The Lord of Rings" on the best cinema possible.

And I've never had a girlfriend (I'm 16 years old). And one of the funniest things I like to do is fixing inside of my computer. And I slept 18 hours in a row the other day when I came home from that world's largest computer party (slept 2-3 hours the two last nights there, 12-13 total on 5 days).

Allthough Darien seems to catch all the D&D related news this days, I am officially a news poster at Sorcerer's Place.
