    Hi All,

    I am pretty new to the board... and the game for that matter. I am interested in starting a new game with an evil party.

    Can anyone please help me out with the advantages or disadvantages of playing an evil party? Anything like evil characters that would be best for the party, or anything at all really would be appriciated.

    Thanks all

    I think its fun to try the game both ways. There are mutually exclusive dialogue options both ways. IMO the evil dialogue is funnier.

    The major drawback I know for an evil group is the reaction of npcs. Get a reputation thats too low and they may chase you out of town with torches. Also stores will charge you more money for everything. But who cares? You're just going to rob them blind anyway. BTW, don't kill them first, all their cool stuff disappears. There are some items that will boost your charisma, so that will help with the items that you actually buy or sell.

    Best evil party members... Viconia, Korgan, and Edwin. Throw in Yoshimo until you get Imoen back. You're good to go.

    Hah! I make a little funny.

    There are a lot of threads in this forum that are centered on having an evil party. You may want to use the "search" option if you have some time to spare. But in the meantime, I would like to welcome you, and give some info about evil party to help you along.

    One disadvantage of having an evil party is that prices are higher. This is so for the prices are based on your reputation (which acts like a gauge to monitor how "good" or how "evil" you are). Be warry that a reputation that is really low may actually resulted in merchants not selling you their wares. You might want a high Charisma to help lower the prices a bit. Or try to increase your reputation to a level acceptable by you evil NPC's.

    I think you already know that good and evil NPC's don't appreciate being together. You might want to ask Neutrally aligned NPC's to join your party. But do experiment with a party of good and evil and enjoy their banters.

    Evil aligned NPC's includes:
    Korgan
    Viconia
    Edwin
    (sorry, I can remember only 3 right now)

    My evil party consists of evil protagonist, Korgan, Vicky, Eddie (the only 3 evil NPC's), Jaheira (she is neutral so she would not complain much, with exceptions, she makes a good 3rd frontline fighter and good backup cleric for Vicky. It's a matter of tastes, but she is fun to romance) and Yoshi/Imoen. Immy is your little sister, so will go along with everything, I think :)

    I have noted 2 instances when J leaves the party:
    1) iirc, if you do the druid grove cleansing the evil way
    2) if you attack Drizzt, which is funny, because you would think that she wants his +5 scimitar most of all... sometimes I got the feeling that J acts more like "good" rather "neutral".

    Nior has listed all of the evil aligned characters in SOA - unmodded. You can also use neutral aligned characters with little in the way of problems. If you are looking for banter, add Jan and Jaheira. Unless your main character is a thief in one form or another, Jan looks to be the best of the bunch. If you add the Valen mod, you can pick her and she is a blast. I personally believe that she is the only true "evil" character (I wouldn't want to wreck the suprise for you so no spoilers).

    Only three evil NPCs in SoA.
    But in ToB you can get a fourth.
    A certain.... Fighter. *says no more* :D

    Evil party ?

    Well, if you had any specific mods installed, whether it be TDD, the Solafein(spelling?) or Valen mods. You could have rather interesting evil parties. As per the following:
    * Normal BG2
    --- Edwin, Viconia, Korgan
    * BG2/Throne of Bhaal
    --- Well, people know the extra one, which doesn't kick in til ToB officially starts
    * Solafein mod
    --- Solafein naturally
    * Valen mod
    --- Valen naturally
    * TDD mod
    --- Well, you are able to pick up Xzar for a start, not sure about resurrecting Montaron
    --- Robilliard
    --- Kagain
    --- Kagain, Montaron and Xzar are all from BG1, Robilliard? No idea. Anyone? I'm thinking Icewind Dale.

    As for out of those members, personally my unoffical evil party?

    Edwin(mage)
    Viconia(cleric)
    Korgan(fighter)
    Montaron(mage) -- if you wanted another mage
    Kagain(fighter)
    Yourself(thief I'd have to assume)

    Mainly those party combos due to I haven't seen how good Solafein and Valen are, but I'd replace Kagain with the ToB npc later on.

    As for the offical evil party ?

    Edwin
    Korgan
    Viconia
    Yourself(Thief or multi-class or dual class thief, ie Fig/Thi Cle/Thi, Mag/Thi, etc, thief has to be second)

    Then well ? until you hit ToB, due to the limited evil npc's you could get away with taking the two druids, Cernd and Jaheira. That works, then dump one of them when you hit ToB.

    Why not Yoshi ? Well you could, depends on what race you want to go yourself, but if you took Yoshi, you'd still take Cernd or Jaheira IMHO.

    So really not a bad Evil party:
    * BG2
    --- Edwin
    --- Viconia
    --- Korgan
    --- Cernd
    --- Jaheira/Yourself
    --- Yourself/Yoshimo
    * ToB
    --- Edwin
    --- Viconia
    --- Korgan
    --- Cernd
    --- Yourself
    --- ToB npc

    The only problem with the latter party, is no thief, so that's why you'd probably go thief in an evil aligned party to begin with, unless of course you wanted to take Jan into an evil party, but he's not the best option, unless you use him instead of Yoshimo, from the very start.

    Just my long-winded thoughts again :good:

    [IMG] Sorry, and yes I know I shouldn't have mentioned the continuation of SoA, but it's a bit hard to suggest evil parties without quickly mentioning the options, I would of thought.

    Again, sorry for overstepping. I was just tryting to give out full information on evil parties to help the new player, so he had some idea what choices to make for his main character. That is all.

    Robillard is iirc the ship's wizard of the sea sprite in the drizzt books.

    For an evil party ? Anomen is an option ? Well yes but he is totally useless, unless your main char is female and you want the romance. Viconia is well and truly the better clerical option.

    Well, Chaotic Neutral is hardly Evil, no?
    Besides what good is a cleric with WSD of 12 and what good is a fighter with such low DEX as Anomen?
