    Remove all ads!
    Everytime I go into the building immediately to the east of the fair in the central area of Baldur's Gat, I get the following message :

    An Assertion failed in:
    D:bad:Dev\Baldur\Obj\Creator.cpp
    at line 8786

    What does this mean? Is this building important for completing any quests? Is there any way to fix this? I'm not sure the actual location, but if anyone wants, I can go find it out.

    i don't have a clue what this bug is as i have been in every house in BG but i don't think it is that important and certainly won't stop you advancing.

    OK - I've donwloaded the patch for TotSC, and found it that the place is x= 3884 y= 856 in AR0700. The new error message is :

    An assertion failed in D:bad:Dev\Baldur\CGameArea.cpp at line 3752
    Programmer says : Creature file not found GIRLBAI.

    I remember there was a house in the area that you mentioned that always crashed on me too. I played the game through a number of times and always tried to go into that house. Each time I crossed my fingers, held my breadth, then saw the dreaded blue screen complete with error message.

    Unfortunatley I never found a way around it (though you could try the move to area cheat if someone can give you the area code - you can find the cheat list and how to use them in the main BG section here). Fortunately, it doesn't seem to affect completing the game at all.

    Sorry that was a bit of a wasted post - it reminds me of the old joke:

    Patient: 'Dr it hurts when I do this.'
    Dr: 'well don't do that then.'

    At least you know you're not the only one with the bug though.

    I used to have this same bug(?) and i think there are connection with that and CD-changing. Try to change CD (you know, if you are in Baldurs Gate and you have CD 4 in your drive, change that to CD 5)

    Anybody ever have a problem with losing sound the sound in your game. Maybe its just me but i don't know. can you let me know

    aeckler, its your sound drivers, you use winamp a lot dont you? before you play bg open winamp and just press play and then stop, then close winamp down, this boos the sound drivers, i get the same problem all the time plus lots of other with msn as well :)

    Does it really matter that much
    You have completed the game more times than i have and you know quite well that the house in question doesn't matter.
    It wouldn't have crashed if you hadn't been cheating anyway.
