[IMG] How on earth do you beat these guys ?
All the monsters in the cave of the dead were easy until these guys. Once you kill one 2 more appear. At one point there were so many my characters couldn't move as they were surrounded.
    Please help !!!!

I believe the method is stated in Elminster's book that you pick up at many places.... can't exactly remember...

go check it up there... but if i remember correctly.. the trick is electricity..i'm not sure... will have to check onthat

No, it's not electricity, it's fire.

I had my monk kicking the jellies but there were more and more coming. Good thing he was immune to poison. Then my mage set off a delayed blast fireball and most of the things were gone. A few minute meteors did the rest of the job.

    Thanks guys I'll try fire.
I tryed cold, fire and electricity but by this time there were far too many to know if it was having any effect.
I'll try hitting the 4 with fire from the start and see what happens.

Any ideas why this doesn't appear in the walkthrough on sorcerer's ?

It could have something to do with your party's level. You said cave of the dead right? I didn't fight any fission slimes in there (just a lich, a bunch of skeleton archers, and two banshees), and it was probably because of a difference of our levels when we went there. It's like that all throughout the game, including SoA. (A few examples=> Sometimes you fight Yuan-Ti mages and Salamanders, come to the same place at a higher level you'll fight a Minotaur and Umberhulks--Astral Prison, Mekrath's Lair, Spellhold, etc. Travel through the top level of the Temple sewers at a high enough level and Beholders and gauths will come. These are just a few examples. This is probably why you encountered slimes and the walkthrough encountered something else.)

You have to turn the tables to call the additional monsters.

[IMG] Ahh silly me. Well it's good to know I missed something, just one extra thing to do next time. I had Balthazaar in my sights and wasn't letting turn tables distract me :D

Incidently, what's with that locked door up there by the ladders. It says I need a key to open it, but I've killed off everything in the cave and I haven't found a key yet. By the way, if this is something I'll discover ater Sendai or Abagaizel, then just tell me I'll find out later.

Thank you very much for the no spoiler answer. Well, sice I'm off to dispatch Sendai, hopefully I'll find out it's dark, mysterious, or sinister purpouse before too much longer.

If you helped Saemon Havarian you don't need it. If you didn't it's a secret passage into Balthazar's lair. A guy in the NE of the map has the key.

Exactly. That locked door in the cave of the dead is simply one of the three ways to get to Balthazar.

Those bloody slime things are hard! I'll have to try fire, because electricity simply does not work. The only problem is, I've just arranged a deal with the lich, and I'm afraid that if I light a fireball under his ass he might get a little upset and decide to imprison me, which would suck. Hopefully the lich will go away once I scratch his back a little.

Is it just me or do normal liches not have the ability to imprison you? If I'm wrong let me know.(maze you maybe)

Yea, let loose a dragon's breath spell on the gels... Ti-hee.. my favorite :) :)
