IIRC you can only backstab with weapons that a pure theif can use. I perfer Katanas and Long Swords.

[IMG] Thieves can indeed use all melee weapons acessible for thieves for backstabbing, as there are: katanas, londswords, scimitars/ wakizashis/ ninja-tos, shortswords and daggers.
Odd enough that also includes quarterstaffs and clubs but using them is definitely worst style :almostmad::mad::flaming:

Check this link, this page should anwswer your questions about thieves ;)

Think of backstabbing as being more like a "sneak attack". In that context it is easier to see how one can "backstab" with a club or staff.

[IMG] Maybe the club has a rusty nail sticking out of it, and the staff has a pointy end.

It wouldn't be stabbing relly though, it would be more of a back-poke, or of course it would be easier to whack them over the head from behinf, which is what the animation seems to show anyway.

A shame that you can't get the Assasins Blade, as this adds a x2 backstab modifier (ie. a thief that would normally back stab at x5 do so at x7 (imagine that with the Assasination skill... ouch))...

You have to have str 16 at least to be able to backstab with a longsword or katana (these are large and heavy weapons). Try a dagger...

Have I to be in back of the victim? I tried frontal but didn't get the multiplayer...

  14. Yes you do have to behind the person about to meet his fate.:p

I find its easier to get right behind them, then pause the game, have the theif' weapon selected, then tell him to backstab, less chance of him stepping out of shadows, and getting slaughtered by people that really dont like being backstabed.

I read in this forum... Do you think it is not true? I have never had a thief weaker than str 18 so i don't know. But there were some where a topic about how the backstab counted and this was writen there...
