Yep,i also think that Inquisitor is the best Paladin out there,i think it is
    Inquisitor
    Undead Slayer
    Cavalier
    Paladin
I've never used lay on hands and other paladin spells(why hould i use cure light wounds) much,a heal is always better plus(though Cavalier has resistances,he's immune to fear,he casts remove fear etc...),dispel magic and true sight are just perfect for a paladin who crushes with Carsomyr.

[IMG] Inquisitor huh?His Dispell is very strong at high levels dispelling almost everything! But my F/C/M got level 8 spells and I now have SPELLTRIGGER!It`s unfair though. In the minor sequencer I am using DrawUponHolyMight and MirrorImage;in Spellsequencer I put Stoneskin,Luck, chant;in SPelltrigger:Heal, improved haste, tenser`s or Harm.Pretty ugly is F/C/M at high level I say...

I rolled a paladin that has (after distributing by me) STR 18 DEX 14 (or more) CON 11 INT 18 WIS 18 CHA 18 in BG1. Guess his stats after ToB... AS you see from stats, I'm a roleplayer. So I'm not really going to take the tomes getting which requires un-paladiny activities or at least not for him. But he will anyway score high.

As for the most powerful guy at the end of the game, it's definitely some combo of fighter and mage. Dualled at lev 13 won't lose much thac0 and only 3-4 mage levels (Aerie loses more). Dualled at lev 9 means less thac0 but only one mage level behind. If soloing, the guy rules. For only one person to cover, his slots will allow a great deal of various protection and buffs, especially with his 19 INT from BG1. In a team he's going to be the 'doer'. For a thief or a priest the same may be done. Imagine a fighter-started thief with Use Any Item... If you really like pure class characters than take the minimal amount of 2 fighter levels that will allow you to get up to five 'stars' in your weapon, allow shields & helmets, and if you're a druid allow you to wear plates.

Well I rolled Paladin with a 18/93 STR, 18 DEX. 18 CONST, 10 INT, 18 WIS and 17 CHA... Besides I got the Tome of Charisma in BG1, so quess what I'll make him in Throne of Bhaal? A machine for killing...

No doubt about that but i said that due to:

"Cavalier without a doubt, you're never gonna use missile weapons with a paladin (I never did) and you get all the cool bonuses for nothing. "

[IMG] Hmm.... guess there are no fans of magic and fireball hurling here. Anyway, if any of you decide to take a mage-like char, dump it and get a sorcerer instead.

They get v v nice high level abilities starting from lvl 18. Sure, you can't learn spells off the scrolls, but I think the way you can just skip the spell-selecting makes it worthwhile. If you make a char in ToB and import it into the SoA game, they start out higher lvl I think.

Anyway, just saying this because the spell (Dark) Planetar rocks!!! You get an almost invincible entity equipped w/ a vorpal sword and has 3 resurrection and heals, plus a load of other cool spells.

If you have have timestop and greater wish, it's almost like overkill with the right party. Just emulate Irenicus' double Time Stop, cast the summon Planetar spell, and remove all your enemies' defences. Especially if you have at least two fighters with Greater Whirlwinds.....

Ive always prefered Cavaliers over Inquisitor's.

Cavaliers are just plain heroic styled, and (in my eye's) Inquisitors have always been associated with falsly accusing someone for witch-craft (mmm, steak burning)

Anyway, whats the point of having two inquisitors (Keldorn) when you have a good party, I always have Keldorn. Thats why Im always picking a Cavalier, that way we have someone immune to fear, who can also dispel it, and fights Dragons and Demons with awesome bonus', and then theirs someone who can dispel magic, illusions and such with little or no problem.

But who's better pure Paladins or Cavaliers?

Didn't you died in "Blood Sword"? :) I remember Azriel taking your soul, because you praised him to, because Cordelia didn't recognize you... :)

"Blood Sword series" was very good gamebook! Comparing only with "Way of the Tiger series"!

[IMG] Ok, the best Paladin-Kit is, doubtless, the chevalier. The only disadvantage in comparison with the plain Paladin-Class is the restriction, that a chevalier can't use missile weapons. But he can use throwing axes, so this disadvantage means nothing. Paladins are made for mellee, you don't need any bows or something, anyway.
You get some nice bonuses for your chevalier, the plus in fights against demons and dragons are very worthful in TOB.

The best thing is, that your are able to cast priestspells, which is a great lack for the inquisitor, who is not able to do.
I'm not talking about such spells like protection from negative plane and so on, which can be done by your cleric. I always take armor spirit (I don't know it's correct english expression, it's this lev. 1 spell), which gives you good protection in the end of TOB and Holy Might (?) (this 2. lev. spell). With this my chevalier has a strength of 25, DEX. 24, KON 24 three times a day and kills everything. An Inquisitor needs a lot of potions to get the same stats...
I had no problems to kill Demogorgon in a 1:1 battle, in profi-mode. I just need 2 potions of greater healing in a battle against Draconis (profi-mode as well).
You don't need an inquisitor, Carsomyr is your Inquisitor. One strike with Carsomyr dispells everything. Heal hands is cool, you can use it in the heat of a battle, it heals lot of HP very quickly. Better than every priest-spell. Chevalier is the best!
Who needs a bonus against Undead? I simply killed them all, only with my Undead-bottom on and walking through the room...

To the original idea, that's a pretty good character through SoA, but i think you'll get crushed by the time ToB rolls around. My twenty something paladin with 21 strength and Carsomyr had some problems, let alone a level 18 fighter by the end of the game

Only played the game thru' once, but I sure got a kickass char outa' it!
Made a Half-Orc monk, which ended out being lvl 30ish, can't remember exactly. He dealt around 35-40 dmg per hit, 5 attacks/round, -15 TACHO, -21AC, 102Magic Resistance (I think) and -10 or better in saving throws (So only spells that affected him was Timestop and Imprison, completely immune to anything else)
He could take out everything, with two exceptions: Firkraag ( :flaming: Evil lizzard! :flaming: )and Kangaxx (Cuz imprison... :bang: )

But I would not recommend this guy tho'... Got too powerful and I didnt even bother finishing ToB, cuz it was too easy to use him . Now im working on an Assassin-Fighter, which I think will prove to be more fun, hehe. Takes more skill and planning ...

[IMG] Elvish wild mage !!!Best mage in the whole game!! My mage is lv.29 and can cast 9 lv.9 spells (including this lv.1 spell). He fails only very rarely. It kinda rocks if you cast fith times "time stopp" and between a few times "dragon breath" or some other sweet spells :D

How do you get a Half-Orc Monk in BG2 unless...?

I've always found the wild mage interesting, but I've tried them twice and both times I had a really bad wild magic surge in the first 2 battles (first time my caster lost 2 spell levels!! Yikes!). Does a high wis help? Just bad experiences here.

Am I the only one who likes Barbarians? Tons of hitpoints, they haul ass with their high movement rates, barbarian rage is much better than berserker rage, and the plate mail thing isn't that big of a deal. Crimson Chain is AC0, and in TOB you get the White Dragon Scale at AC-2, which is only slightly lower than the best plate. Or just get a nice shield. I dual wielded him with Celestial Fury and Flail of Ages, boosted him with spell protections and he took down Firrkrag in no time, with only minimal ground support from my mage. Go half-orc for sure here. He was a bad bad bad bad bad man.

In the instruction nothing stands about high wisdom helping you to resist the wild magic surge. At lv.12 or so the wild surges are very rare and at higher levels they are sometimes really effective (two meteor storms at one time are nice  )
