This may be a foolish, simple newbie question...but since I am a foolish, simple newbie you will have to pardon me!

I'm trying to download the item upgrades from sorcerers.net. The explanation on the site tells me to unzip them and copy to the overflow file, etc...but the readme file that I downloaded states that I need to request the extra files personally.

(I hope I'm being specific enough! This is the download for the extra item shops. i beleive it was a CD originally given to those that pre-ordered BG2.)

Could someone please advise me as to what I need to do to get these files/upgrades. And, please tell me if it is safe to install them in a current game. (I'm in the Promenade)

Thanks in advance, and sorry for taking up space for what is probably a simple question!

  2. I can't answer your first question, but I'm quite sure it doesn't affect much in a current game. Don't take my word for it though.

Well, welcome to the forum, I guess. I can tell you're never going to be the Grammatical Moron of the Week. ;)

Eh, just download the files from this site, then unzip them to the override directory I think.

First of all, thank for the welcome and the help.

Maybe I should be a bit more specific.

I understand that I must copy the dialog.tlk file to the main folder, and the .itm files to the overload folder...but where should I copy the .sto files to?

Thanks again in advance...I hope I'm not breaking any rules by asking this, if so then I heartily apologize!

Hmm, I wasn't aware that different files went into different folders...

The easiest way to unzip the file into your override folder is to do the following:

    1. Open Windows Explorer and find the zip file.
    2. Right click on the file and when the little menu appears, select the 'extract to..' option.
    3. When you select this option, winzip will open and give you the option to look for your override folder.
    4. Select your override folder and click on 'extract'.

    It's as simple as that.

[IMG] CrayZHorse, all files go into the Override folder. That's the only way to change something in the game, without editing the files themselves.

As for the bonus merchants, you can find them on page 2 of the Editors, Hacks & Custom Chars subsection: http://www.sorcerers.net/Games/BG2/index_editors2.php
