I have another question for you guys who played BG1 and transfered your character to BG2. What equipment did you carry over? Was it only for PC or for the whole group? Does cash carry over, or did you have to buy something and sell it in BG2?

There is another question about Drizzt's stuff. Does he attack if you stole chain mail and one of his scimitars or is that only the case when you are evil, named Drizzt and you wear his stuff?

Is there any equipment you can't carry over?

I'm planning to carry over: Golden Pantaloons, Mithril Chain +4, Shadowed Leather Armor +3, Boots of Speed, Algernon’s Cloak, Cloak of Balduran, Helm of Balduran, Ring of Wizardry, Bracers of Archery, Gauntlets of Dexterity, Gauntlets of Ogre Power, Long Bow of Marksmanship, Short Bow +2, Varscona and Short Sword +2. Except from that I don't know right now. I have to try out that vampire sword you get by trading idol and armor. And there is so much stuff that is waiting to be discovered.

Well, nothing carries over but the pantaloons. All gold, all armor, they are all gone, zip.

All gone? Nada! To bad. Just got used to Algernon’s Cloak, Ring of Wizardry, Varscona and Short Sword +2 although I'm still at the begining (chapter 3).

Then you only have to be evil and named Drizzt to get his attention. Anyone played that way?

So all that is left is to spend money on learning spells... or not?

[IMG] :yot: Just to check, is that little cyborg smiley supposed to be a subtle termiantor joke?

Oh, and also, I'm not sure about the rest of that equipment, but The Longsword Varscona definitely carries over to BGII <as long as you don't do ToB>. Also, in case it's of any interest to you, the Kazgaroth items <you'll find em...> also carry over.

Don't know about the Kazgaroth items (never used them), but sure that Vascona wasn't equiped on my Paladin the first time I transfered through (ToB was not out when I started SoA).
Of course it is possible to start with all your items by starting a multi-player game, and re-loading your previously exported character(s) after the opening sequences.
Of course, that would be cheating.

There's another work around (but again, cheating). While the screen is still black, pause the game. Your imported character will have all of his stuff on him. Drop everything on the ground. The first time your character screams, all of his equipment is removed from him. As you already dropped it, there's nothing to remove. When the game starts, all of your equipment is right at your feet (except the gold you had, as that can't be dropped).

It's a pity that some of the great BG1 items aren't around in BG2. Cloak of Balduran was my favorite, but probably overpowered in BG2.

There's also a tweak that lets you keep your imported items, but I use the trick Aldeth described.

I remember that some items do carry over (though in an odd way). If you had them when you import your game into SOA, they will appear in containers around Chateau Irenicus. I'm sure this happens with the Helm of Balduran and the Golden Pantaloons, not so sure about other items.

@Enagonios: in BG1, if you keep the Idol of Kozah and the Ancient Armour, you can trade with the spirit at Ulcaster to get a sword. However that sword is useless as all it does is drain your life whenever you hit anything.
