I sk'ed C/R to a sylvan mystic/C and guess what? not a single weapon was usable. sylvans use only blades and clerics use only blunt.. game says you'll be restricted to cleric weapons but i guess it talks about pros not weapons. i always read C/R's are the best and i'll try the original way. it should have been so good with paladin-like abilities ideal to solo...

Yeah, when you solo with a mage you can pull off the Protection from Evil/Gate combo more effectively like all the high powered mages in the game, since you don't have to worry about your party dying at the hands of the summoned demon. You can do PfE 10' radius, but who wants to take the time to do that when you are on the thick of battle, and you still have a demon to worry about once the the Protection is gone.

I hate to disappoint you, Ravynn, but yes Vic can get her alignment changed, but given you have a female pc/protagonist, she won't change her alignment, she'll stay evil.

If the case is otherwise then I guess I'm wrong, but I believe her alignment will only change in a romance.

I played a team created entirely by myself once.

    Leader - Human Berserker/Mage - 12/24
Enable to combat some beings, and use magic against the bigger ones, as Giants and Dragons. Equipped with Blackrazor, he still put up a good fight.

    2nd - Human Invoker/Cleric - 18/20
My best spellcaster, has alot of protection and offensive spells to use before she has run out of it.

    3nd - Human Monk - 29
High AC guy, with the Fire Giant belt, he is every sorcerers nightmare, at least when they don't possess imprisonment.

    4th - Human Shapeshifter/Fighter - 15/22
My second healer, but also a dangerous fighter, she cast Ironskin, morphs into a Werewolf and activates greater whirlwind.

    5th - Human Inqusitor - 25
My mage - killer, equipped with Blessed bracers and Carsomyr, and at some points, Mirror Cloak. Dispel Magic and True Sight rocks!

    6th - Human Assassin/Fighter - 10/23
A high - level fighter with a few poison weapons, he wields Klo'garth and throws it in quick speed, either poisoning enemies or knocking them out for the moment.

well, i've been away from BG for quite a while now, but when i last played my uber-party was ...

    me - Skald
    Korgan - Berserker
    Aerie - Claric/Mage
    Jaheira - Fighter/Druid
    Jan - Illusionist/Thief
    Delany - Bard(shapeshifter)

this party rocked, except my main char was a skald ... blades are far superior imho ... but with all the pre-buffs available my char was awesome upfront with the others

Korgan was a tank par-excellence and could just slice through any horde of monsters, Jaheira was also a great tank and fighter

Aeire/Jan could just cast spells all day long and would use their other skills for backup

Delaney was a mod and good fun to play

... a good party is all about balance, you need a couple of tanks upfront to keep the enemy busy, 1 thief to do his stuff and enough clerics/mages to heal, prebuff and cause devastation while the other are busy

    The most powerfull IMO:

Assassin or Sorcerer (monk is pretty cool too)
    Korgan: Kickass dualweilding axefighter
    Keldorn: Can weild not-needed-to-be-mentioned
Viconia: Get that good hammer and something that fixes her Con and she can own anybody
Edwin: Best mage in the game (might not be needed if you are a sorc)///or hair'dalis
Jan Jansen: best pickpocket, storyteller and turnip salesman (might not be needed if you are an assassin)///or hair'dalis

    Hello.

This is the (short) story about Jyacken.

Jyacken was basicly born insane. He also was born with the evil seed inside of him. So he was branded chaotic evil by his Daddy. (i already mentioned that hes insane?)

He soon became an adept in the arts of magic. Well. Basicly in conjuring up dangerous things. Due to his latent insanity, he became a Hasradeur.

Using the power of chaos, he outperformed all other students in his class when he did gate in a pitfiend whilst others barely managed to summon a rat.

Well... luck was on his side and the spell effect "protection from evil" was also cast on him by the power of chaos.
So he stood by and watched while the pit fiend slaughtered half of the Schools students.

He was expelled from the Academy and so ventured on alone.

For various unknown reason he woke up in a cage, getting tortured by a weird irenicus dude.
Later Jyacken found out that he was caught as substitude for a so called child of baal, that proved to be to much for irenicus lackeys to catch.

Since Jyacken was insane, he acceptet the role and continued on, tossing out highlevel speels via the power of chaos, unintentionaly wrecking havoc about just everything around him.
The power of chaos, the ultimate tool for the madmen.

Jyacken faced his demis when he tried to cast the 9th timestop via power of chaos, but summonen a cow that fell on him, leaving him unable to move.

The dragon he fought against had a nice feast, or so the storytellers.. ahm.. tell us.

Oh, as a sidenote: jyacken had a nice party which learned to accept his latent insanity, but they got killed, were turned into stone or were disintegrated because of wild magic surges.

    Sheech, now thats bad luck.

Edwin and Keldorn will kill each other, won't they? (Ditto Keldorn and Viconia, on short notice.)

Its Edwin and Minsc. Edwin never liked Dynaheir and needles Minsc about him not being able to finish his Dajemma(??) iirc.

It only happens in SoA however and if you always ensure that they stand apart from each other it is pretty easy to take them thru the game. If at all they wanna fight, reload and move them apart. The timer fails and you will have no problems.

Despite the initial struggle, Minsc never had any problem with Edwin, they seem to go along pretty nicely and burry the Dynaheir-hatchet. Plus - once you reach ToB you will never have any NPC hatred or reputation problems even if you put together Minsc/Edwin/Aerie/Jaheira/Viconia/Keldorn (yep, I know it is impossible but it would be quite spicy in SoA)

The only time I had hatred troubles (which BTW proved to be very persistent) was when I put together Korgan and Aerie in SoA without being in romance with Aerie (yuck!) No matter how many times I reloaded Aerie just kept on leaving after a while.

A bit on topic - any NPC combination works perfectly well in ToB unless, of course, you try to use Nalia as a thief and Jan as a main spellcaster. :p

Minsc - stick a vorpal sword on him = funny dicapitating :) .. but mince is the funest char to play with . next to jan :)
Korgan - i like korgan more then keldorn not only does korgan neevr end up killing viconia(i hate reloading), 2 two hand fighters is to much for me.
Viconia - VICONIA wat can i say
me-sorc - :p the power house of the party - wish
edwin - hes a must i don't care wat amyone says even when i play through as a sorc i always place him in the party.
jan - i love jan :) not only is he funny but he is a nice tief very reliable and those mage skills make up for the backstabing

i don't like cheating, i love going into a battle head to head :) .. I also build my party depending on how funny they are or how funny they are with other chars :) (jan trying to steal boo lol, edwin a girl i keep him like this through out lol..)

I didn't realize it was that easy, I'll have to try it next time I play. So my new ultimate adventure party will probably have Edwin substituted for Haer'Dalis, if I can pull off the trick!

I posted this in a similar thread.

    Optimum "noble warrior" gameplay.

Cavalier PC so he won't chicken out on a dragon fight/mages who spam panic/fear. Can also use Carsomyr.

Keldorn - another paladin. If you cheat, dupe the Avenger. Otherwise, go for purifier.

Anomen - warrior cleric. won't kill keldorn. Equip Crom Faeyr.

Sarevok - Deathbringer assault. Nuff sed. In SoA, use Minsc. Equip him with a decent 2 handed sword like the Psion's blade to prevent mind screw OR you can "waste" XP to dual him to thief and get the "use any item" feat to use the Carsomyr!Halberds are also good (ravager!). It's VERY important to equip something to prevent charm/dominate. (Sarevok "Deathbringer Assaulting" YOU is NOT a funny scenario).

Imoen/Nalia - Mage with minimal thief skills. AFAIK, she's not limited to what spells she can learn. :)

Jaheira - Good investment. Also, a more "practical" romantic partner, since she won't drop like a fly in combat (compared to Aerie and Viconia). Shapeshifting AND summons also help.

IIRC you get Psion's Blade and Ravager during the ToB not the SoA, and Minsc is ranger not fighter so you cannot dual to thief. so IMO you can just not use Minsc and take Sarevok when you get to the ToB section.

Also unless it's beginning of the game you don't want to shapeshift Jaheira. Jaheira's shapeshiftings are not that great compare to shapeshifter's warewolf (which sucks ball without shapeshifter rebalance), so use druid spell and ranged weapon or melee if you're confident enough to keep her alive because she's fighter anyway.

If you're going to get Carsomyr +6, I wouldn't recommand getting Purifier as main weapon for other paladin because there're lot of decent weapons throughout the game
