Hit as hard as you can as long as you can  . Try killing Torgal first (I think he doesn't even need to be killed by fire or acid) than kill the rest of the trolls in the room.

Take 'em out one by one. Go in to the room, so that only TorGal sees you, and starts his conversation. Then it should be possible to get TorGal out of the room alone. Kill him, and then go inside and kill his two helpers. ;)

It's a nice big room, too. Web or entangle them and pelt 'em with arrows and/or cloudkill.

I've found that Insect Plague and Summon Animal spells work wonders. And get a haste spell and Strength of One in the battle, too. The last two spells should help against TorGal's ability drain and slow.

Summoning animals to cram the doorway is a good thing...(while hasting your characture to go provoke Torgal into following you) Hit him with some distance things (whether it be spell or weapons) and once your animals die (or the trolls start to) go in full force with your fighters (that have been sitting on their bums) and hack them to pieces.

There's a tactic I like to use against trolls in open spaces. I call it flame kiting. For this, you will need:

    1 hasted character
1 wand of fire with several charges

Use the Agannazar's Scorcher effect of the wand on one of the trolls, then run rings around them. When the beam of fire touches the other trolls, it will burn them, too. The beam lasts 2 rounds, so you should be able to get two burns off on each troll per cast. If you recast the wand before the other effect has finished, it will stack (i.e. also do damage). You should be able to finish them with 3 or 4 castings of scorcher. There are several of these wands throughout the game - when you find one, sell it to a shop and steal / buy it back. It will have 50 charges of fireball, and 50 charges of scorcher.

[edit] You don't NEED a hasted character, but it helps to get hit less. [/edit]

    How I do this:

Go into the room just before the Troll Room get everyone to the back and send one lil' guy in to get talking (A big fighter is best, Minsc is good) then tell him to run into the doorway then one space into the room, Tor'gal is slightly slower than the other two so one normal troll will get into the doorway and then can't get in meaning the other two can't reach you, pelt the one in the doorway with spells and used ranged weapons and long weapons (staffs, spears, halberds) then the second normal troll usually takes his place. While your killing the second pelt holding spells at Torgy and when troll#2 is down attack the imobile meany

[IMG] Earl Gray! Yeah, it was my mate steven (Drogo Nevets on SP) who started the topic, using my account. And yes, I've beaten Torgal, over and over again, through my zillions of goes through BG2. :)
Thanks for all the advice people, and I'm sure he'll be on to check out the topic soon.

Btw, IIRC he plays without any mods or 'improved' versions, so Earl, read the post properly. :) :p

I said he would be using improved Torgal, which he isn't.
I think that's what he meant.

Regardless, the Improved TorGal has much stronger help than simply two giant trolls.

I always just lured TorGal out, pounded on him, then after he died (he does not require acid or fire), I walk into his room and kill his friends both at the same time.

Make one character invisible, (probably a weak one)then haste another one.Put the invisible one in the doorway leading to TorGY and his Super Mean Cronies and make the hasted one trigger the conversation, then bring him back to the room(invisible guy should move out of the way of the hasted one)and as the IG is blocking the trolls, others can pelt them with fire arrows and MMM's.

Cheese tactics which can be used in plenty places. Those umber hulks can be beaten in a similiar way, Adamanite golems are destroyed with such tactics :( No resistance

[IMG] If you're really stuck, get Yoshimo and set a whole bunch of traps near the door you open to meet TorGal. Then, have a hasted character lure him in, and close the door to fight the trolls one-by-one. You should at least kill one troll instantly if all traps function.
