This happened a few years ago, but I never could figure out why, so I figured I'd ask and see if any of the BG Guru's around here might know anything.

Playing a Paladin, I forget when exactly, but I think it was somewhere in Watchers Keep, I got attacked by a horde of the undead shadow-monsters, and a lich.. I told my priests to use Turn Undead, and proceeded to slay them all, but instead of exploding into chunks, the lich became charmed..

Puzzled, I saved and reloaded my last quick-save. Tried it again, and the same thing happened. I checked my alignment and found that my Paladin was no longer Lawful Good, but had somehow become Lawful Evil.

Yet I still had all of my Paladin abilities, and they still worked.

My feats were 'corrupted', for example, my Solar became a Fallen Solar.. I could charm undead instead of killing them.. I forget whether I could cast Harm spells, but found that I could still cast healing spells, Lay Hands, Detect Evil, etc..

I could still weild Carsomyr, Vhailor's Helm, and I forget what else.. I had something that made me immune to magic damage on top of my high saves, innate magic resistance, and also immunity to non-magical weapons.. I got all the benefits of being Good, many of the benefits of being evil, and only retained the diplomatic 'penalties' of being a Paladin..

Either extremely conflicted, or completely indifferent; I must have attained the epitome of neutrality 'cause I was somehow a Lawful Evil Paladin without having fallen..

Anyone have any idea what I did or said that changed my alignment from Lawful Good, to Lawful Evil... Or why my hero's god didn't seem to mind? I know it happened sometime before I started ToB, but I don't know when.

At the end of BGII, in hell. You chose one of the 'bad' ways to complete a task. It only took one 'bad' choice to change from any aliment to evil. Hope that clears it up for you.

Bah! I released that Djinni in the way any self-respecing Bhaal-spawn would.. I should have left him to rot slowly in that desolate void.. Slaying him was an act of charity, not greed!!

    .....

.. I guess that would explain it.. That mystery sure did a lot for character development. Thanks, Alak. ;)

Actually, no it wouldn't. You should become fallen after getting your alignment changed in Hell and lose all the paladin abilities.

    Yes.
