Here's the fastest way(s) to kill ANY lich:

For all liches:
Cast Deva (not Fallen Deva), then cast (on the Deva) Improved Haste + Bless + Free Action. Move you party (and the Deva) as far away as possible from the place where the lich spawns, and then cast Aerial Servant and Mordenkainens Sword at the spawning point for the lich. Take a hasted character, and make the lich spawn. When the lich spawns move that character over the rest of the party, and wait for the lich to cast Death Spell + Time Stop. When the lich has vast Time stop, move the Deva over to the point where the lich are standing, the lich won't kill the Deva, because the Aerial Servant and the sword made sure, that the lich used Time Stop, and the Death Spells. All you have to do now is to wait for the Deva to hit the lich, at that point the lich will have to save vs. Death or be killed instantly, Magic Resistance does not save the lich... Ohh, and BTW, make sure the Party AI is off before doing this...


For Watcher's Keep: Wait with this area until you have the spell Deva (not Fallen Deva) + all the other spells i mentioned...

For Kangaxx: Use a Protection from Magic on a NPC and a Fireelemental (the priest version (Jaheira have it)), and place the NPC as close as possible to Kangaxx (after the Time Stop spell has occured), then cast Aerial Servant twice. Kangaxx should cast Imprison on the NPC instead of the summoned creatures, and the Aerial Servants can kill most of the summons that Kangaxx calls forth. Don't worry about the fireelemental, it's protected from both deathspells and Imprison...
Also if you have the spell Deva (not Fallen Deva)at the time you face Kangaxx, then just use Deva instead of fireelemental...

For all other areas: See *For all liches*.

 

By the time you get a summon deva Liches are not much of a challenge anyway.

 

You said that fire elementals can't be imprisoned or harmed by death spell...

Either I have had multiple delusions in the past or that is flat out wrong.

BigB, I have a memory of a memory of a fireelemental strategy (bug!- of course imprisonment should work on them) months ago. No far earlier than that. Back when Slappy's skull was rolling from forum to forum.

I could do a search- but naaah. Fireelementals *should* be improsoned so I don't bother searching for a cheasy stratedy

Anyway I think the Deva is a good call :thumb up:

 

Liches? The fastest? The answer is Flail of ages +5; Holy avenger and Grom Frayer all in good hands. Spells helps too, but against lich... The damn thing don't have pause betwen spells like Improved alacrity and that is the WORST thing.

 

Or how 'bout a Protection from Undead scroll?? Then all you need is a +2 teaspoon.

 

try setting up a few traps well away from the lich so they don't go off when it spawns batter it a bit then use the ring of the ram to knock the lich back into the traps. this works well with Kragxx when he is in demi lich form

 

Well, I don't think they are like kobolds..... Perhaps they can make you sweat, I hate banshees...

 

Mmmh, Spell Immunity: Abjuration works fine for me. There still is an opponent to fight, which there is not when you use something like Protection from Undead. It's just no fun killing a though foe that way. (IMO)
Spell Immunity:Abjuration just makes sure you won't be imprisoned, and thats enough for me. Timestop isn't much a problem, nor are some Powerwords....it's just the imprissoning.

 

How about (solo sorc):-

cast simulacrum - both cast spell protection:abj - melf minor meteors (& 9th level energy blades (or whatever they are called))

 

What would the adventure knowledge of a 10-12th level party tell them about liches? Would it really tell them, Kangaxx will cast imprisonment over and over and over. Instead the character knows that an undead will come out of the tomb. Cromwell told him that the mace of disruption (now +2) is a super weapon against undead. So, the barbarian has protection from undead scrolls for this occassion and the mace of disruption +2. Now solo the barbarian can smash liches. Simple and in character.

 

I JUST CAST BREACH, AND HIT HIM. dEAD IN 5 SEC...damn capslock...
Or just cast a undeadkilling spell like falsdawn or sunscorch after taken away his defenses, also that in a few sec, specially with robe of vecna...but TDD isn't working with Tob...yet

 

Or you can also use killsw01.

 

How about a very nice undead killing party.
lvl 18 undead hunter with Carsomyr, Vicconia with bone club, Sir Anomen with Mace of disruption, Mazzy with Lilacor(Just for a laugh) and Aerie turning undead just in case.
Useful against everything that should be pushing up daisies as we speak.

 

For the Demi-Lich i just use Korgan's enrage ability and he just hacks away.

 

Since I have the staff of magi liches drop like kobolds, the dispelling ability doesn't give them time to put their defenses up. True sight and warding whip also make a lich very vulnarable.
Your technique is probably a very good one, but I strongly doubt it is the fastest way.

Anyway, liches are mainly a problem in SoA when you cannot cast any of those spells yet.

 

For any lich, or power related mages, simply get a scroll of protection from magic and a weapon that can hurt liches. Voila! A dead lich.

 

Unless you use the simulacrum trick you'll be running out of scrolls soon enough
