Encumbered by MMM

    Greetings fellow BGII players. I'm curious if anyone else is getting annoyed by their mages getting encumbered by their meteors. Specifically my problem is Imoen, who has a STR score of 9. Now as a thief but primarily a mage a low str score isn't a huge issue in terms of performing her primary role. With all her gear and 2 bags (gem and scroll case for easy stowage of things she loots after de-locking/de-trapping) she's at like 34/50 weight. Problem is as she levels up she summons more and more meteors per cast of MMM, and it's getting to the point where simply casting the spell puts her a hair away from being slowed. I'd like to be able to put her in elven chain but that adds a few pounds over what she's already wearing and guarentees encumbrance when she summons her meteors.

    Does anyone know of a mod that removes the weight of the MMMeteors, or anyone who could tell me if it's a relatively simple change to make? I've never modded infinity engine games but I'm certainly quite computer literate so if it's not a big deal I could probably figure it out. I think it would be reasonable to assume that since they are magical items and the weight was never mentioned in any of the descriptions that they were not originally intended to cause weight problems for mages. I think they weigh like a pound each so it's hard to imagine Imoen even being any good at throwing them.

    G3 Tweaks has a component entitled 'Change Magically Created Weapons to Zero Weight' that does this.

    I never noticed that. It's probably because the only time I cast that is when I'm going to use them immediately. They are useful for things like golems, the demi-lich, etc. Since you're standing still when you're throwing them, encumberance wouldn't factor in until after the fight is over. I guess I've always used up enough of them that I wasn't encumbered.

    While not what I would call heavily modded, my BGII install has enough stuff that I would hate to break it by adding unneccessary tweaks. I wasn't sure if the G3 tweak would let me choose specific components or not, so I decided to first see how much effort would be involved in modding the attribute myself. As it turned out it was so exceedingly simple I almost feel bad having asked. DLed some teamBG stuff, used SK to export the item file and simply used the editor to change 1 tiny field. Threw the updated .itm in the override dir and it worked like a charm.

    Now I'm contemplating trying a few other minor changes. For one I was thinking of changing heal/cure spell casting speeds to a flat 5 all around. Grappling with whether that is cheesy or not. It would certainly make priest healing spells more useful and make the game less reliant on potions. Maybe I'll just up the difficulty a notch to compensate ;)

    I have g3 tweaks and tons of other mods and I am doing fine, just so you know. ;)

    Like most WeiDU mods, every component is completely independent of one another. If you only want one component, you can install just that one. :) I heavily, havily emphasize compatibility with all my mods, so if you do encounter any issues with other mods I endeavor to fix it ASAP.
