Is there anyway to prevent the alignment change at the end of SoA? I'm confused by this because I chose every "good" action and still came out neutral evil.

Is this required as part of me being in-line with Bhaal's evil essence?

Make sure not to kill the dragon, this can be solved with correct dialogue choices.

Ah okay. I was under the impression slaying an evil dragon would be the right thing for a paladin to do, but now I know better :p . Thanks Baronius.

In this case, it's not the what, but the why. Namely, pride. That your pride can manipulate you into doing the bidding of a demon, known to be evil, without knowing the full story. Is it good to rid the world of an evil dragon? Yeah. Is it good to rid the world of the only competition that is holding back a bigger, more powerful dragon that could rule the planet? Well... :bad:

Yes, it's a bit of nitpicking that's probably way off course, but I think it does illustrate the importance of not taking things for granted, especially coming from a dubious source. And letting a demon manipulate your pride to do what it wants is rarely a good thing.

Gamewise, of course, it's still a bit of a kick in the ass when 75% of the game (90% if you include ToB) is whack-cast-stab, and you don't get any clue you've screwed up until it changes you evil. :shame:

Lol, I'm glad you understand. The only real issue is that playing a pally here is a lose-lose situation, as your job is to seek out all evil, small or big and snuff it out.

Technically, I should be killing the demon everytime he shows up and the dragon, and if there is a greater evil, I should be killing him too!

Haha, but ya, I see what you mean by having your pride manipulated. I completely forgot that test was pride, I never had an alignment change until I stopped reading the text and chose the path of most xp/gold/gear. Thanks again :) .

Well, you ARE in hell and EVERYTHING is evil there. You are also being tested to be the replacement for the god of murder (off-the-chart-evil). The tests will naturally give you more options to shift evil (even trick you into becoming evil).

Good PC's must be vigilant to see through tricks.

I would argue that you are not accurately role-playing a paladin. Your character is leading an inquisition, not promoting the cause of good. Killing defenseless people and creatures, exterminating an evil being that serves the greater good, and not allowing quarter to a down enemy are all evil acts (a paladin should immediately fall who does any of these).
