[IMG] I was wondering what your most lethal character is by the end of BG2 or Throne of Bhaal?
I have had 3 killer characters:
Elven sorcerer - at this high level, he killed all of the dragons in the game single handed and in the blink of an eye by using his potential to cast time stop at least 5 times.

Human Undead Hunter - as many of you will allready know, with carsomyr, they rock. My one killed the black dragon in suldanessellar without breaking sweat, and single handed With the immunity of +1 weapons given in hell at the end of SoA, the lower armour class is not a problem, and neither were vampires!

Finally we have the monk - weak at low levels, but i was impressed by the powers they get later so i kept on. In the end, he could have wiped out armies alone.

So, what are your most lethal characters of your own making, or indeed an NPC?

Elvin Scorceror with robe of venca was one of my strongest but it coulnd't beat when i cheated a little and had a multiclassed kensai/mage with robe of venca duel weilding some pretty good weapons(i cant remember which)he was a beast that nothing could stop.

Human Assassin/Mage. Totally kickass, I soloed with him, and was level 13/28 or so by the end of SoA. Probably not as powerful as a Kensai/Mage but a whole lot more enjoyable IMO. One of my favorite things to do vs. the weak enemies in SoA was to cast improved alracity then call down comets like mad! Another strategy was to cast mislead then backstab everyone while they tried to kill my image.

[IMG] I have soloed a wizard slayer all the way from the start of SoA to the end of ToB. By the end of ToB, he was a god. Immune to all forms of magic, weilding the celestial fury and belm, (with the upgraded short sword of mask for dealing with more annoying enemies) he could literally wipe out entire groups of enemies in no time.

Modjahed ... you're most deadly character is a link??? Hmmm, i've never played a link before. Depending on whether the monsters have dial access or DSL, it could be effective. You would be able to slow all opponents & cast 1 Pop-Up Ad per 4 levels.

My most lethal character was a Cavelier wielding the holy avenger sword. Nothing fancy, but he was unstopable

    LOL, Mat!

My most lethal char this far is an Assassin, with really low AC, really high HP, arounfd 170, boosted stats, and I am no where near the end! Boosted, as in in game boosting, no SK or cheats.

    She just sneaks thorough...

    [IMG] Hat off, Mat! :D

I'm just being lazy to type it out? :hmm:

If I just say it is a Swashbuckler/Fighter - it will not impress anyone. And it would be too long to cut and paste the whole post once again. :hmm:

mine would have to be a fighter/mage/thief because they are hust equipped for every situation.

They can use any weapon with a low thaco, cast mage spells and use thief skills.

With the Xp cap removed they are even more deadly.

I'm playing a sorceress through ToB (my first PC spellcaster), and she is quite incredible, compared to my previous fighter-heavy parties. Most foes don't survive the first time stop (though I haven't got that far yet).

My two best chars (I can't decide which was better) were two customised chars:
-my halfling Cavalier Sir Donaldus, wielding the Purifier, Foebane and the Flail of the Ages ... sure - what I'd wished to have was a holy avenger shortsword :( ;)
-my elven mc kensai-mage: only ** weapon proficiency using foebane and the answerer, awesome THACO, scary low initiative and deadly MAGIK. Probably even deadlier than my halfling cavalier.

The best unchanged chars were my:
-gnomish mc illusionist-thief, using whatever was available
-halfling bountyhunter, using whatever was available
    -halfling kensai dualwielding shortswords
-dwarven mc fighter-cleric with the unimproved hammer of lightning, the flail of the ages and the sling of Arvoreen
-dwarven barbarian using the Easthaven Defender, Axe of the unyielding and Flail of the Ages.

All these chars are terribly effective when used properly, however, the first two of the bunch were much more carefree than the latter :D

    • None of my chars has ever used crom, neither dualwielding nor single handed, or will ever use crom !!! They were perfectly lethal without ... *sigh*.
    • I never played the same char through BG-1 or 2 twice to accumulate stat enhancements or immunities - that's (a) too easy and (b) cheesy period

I thinking of useing shadowkeeper to make a fighter/mage/theif with a kensai kit.....I think its possible....if it is he should be a major powerhouse and a good soloer.....I think.

    ~Edit~
    Yeah it's possible.

Mine was a Kensai/Mage with the robe of Venca and Celestial Fury and Crom Frayr(Sorry about spelling). Dealed massive amounts of damage because of the strenght bonus.

Kensai/Mage, WITH the robes of Vecna, WITH Crom Faeyr, WITH Celestial Fury. OMFG. Image that running around in your street at night. I wouldnt want to bump into him..

  15. Refusing to cheat in the least, I have had a solo fighter/mage since BG1 up to ToB. She hit the XP cap in Spellhold and is now 9/30, and still managed to kill all the geezers (incl. Kangaxx). She wields Taralash +5 and the Ravager +6, and the best strategy is Timestop, Improved Alacrity, 5 sunfires, Dragons Breath, Abi-dalzims.

Through cheese and less cheese, she has battled through every last drop of gaming experience the BG series has to offer, and I am now firmly grounded at Amellysan, right at the end.

Its no use, I'm just not powerful enough :(

Better multiclass mate... if you decide to play such a lengthy game. Your character will be considerably more powerful =)

  17. I decided before I started to not bother with MC - this would mean I would have a mediocre fighter and a mediocre mage in BG1, and there is ABSOLOUTELY NO POINT in having a mage in BG1, seriously. Therefore I had a higher level fighter instead.

Multiclasing a fighter-mage starts to makes sense for ToB, but for BG-2 SoA dualclass is unbeatable. So it depends on what you play.

And even in BG-1 mages are pretty useful, especially mage-thiefs are unbeatable for dungeon cleaning: with a wand of fire or fireball spells they are your parties engeneer troops, clearing the way and killing groups of weaker enemies.

Some interesting links, discussing mc vs. dc advantages in ToB:
The last thread is especially about mages and multiclassed mages.

  19. My elven Archer with the Mana Bow, Helm of Balduran, Daystar and Quiver of Unlimited and the Black Dragon Leather is quite deadly.....of course, I cheated a bit. *ahem*

My most deadly character was my human barbarian.

    stats:

    str: 18/00
    dex: 18
    con: 18
    int: 12
    wis: 10
    cha: 10

He was wielding the Silver sword, the Ravager +6, The Axe of the Unyielding +5 and Heartseeker +3. In the heat of battle he was 60% resistant to phisical damage(85% resistant to missile damage), had tons of HP-s, 241 with the Axe of the Unyielding and dealt out enormous damage; not to mention the constant vorpal hits, which killed the black dragon in the elven city, Saldadrex and a green dragon in the Watcher's keep. He was so tough, that I never needed to reload, he was my yet most perfect warrior.
