[IMG] Well my MP created cool beyond words half-elven F/M/T has proven to be an useful addition to the party, along with my new and spiffy Druidic Sorcerer. (aka:Mystic Theurge) They are supposed to be great buddies, RPG wise. My F/M/T fights well, buffs himself very good, and uses wands/robes/scrolls/any weapons/any armors with ease, also sets traps, detects illusions, (this is ssooo useful!) and backstabs! :thumb:

Most important bonus is he casts STONESKIN, the only way to survive on Insane difficulty and all those heavy mods I have.

That being said, I need help about his HLA choices. What should I pick and in waht order?

*Use Any Item is really needed? He can use almost anything right now, ALL weapons, armors, scrolls, wands, staves, thief gear etc.

*Spiffy traps? Are the yreally worth it? Which one is cool? Is TimeS trap any good? How can I use it most efficiently? I have NEVER used HLA traps.

*Assasination? Can this be picked moe than once? I think it is more powerful than GWW. With improved haste and some STR bonus, he can do NASTY damage! What do you think?

*Hardiness. I don't think it is needed, my F/M/T will always have buffs, Stoneskin, Mirror Image, Pfromweapons etc. So?

*GWW? It is a nice enough HLA it is. But better or worse than assasination if the user is imp.hasted? Can it stack with assasinatioN?

*Those evasion skills sound and look PURE crap. What do you suggest?

*Critical hit, a must to hit Wraith of Wrath in JonBon battle, it has -25 AC! so I think I had better get it soon.

*GDeath Blow? Kills annoyingly cheesy Mind Flayers with ease so I need it! Note that tactics MFs are ten times hard, skillful, smart and deadly!

ANyway, what do you suggest generally? I am open to your ideas, especially those F/M/T fans and former players! Hope all goes well. Thank you all in advance!

When I was playing my F/M/T solo, I got UAI right away. I never figured out why; you don't need it.

Spike Traps are great, the rest are of dubious usefulness. Explosive traps are best used against groups, but they trigger as soon as a single enemy comes into range; only useful at points where a group is about to spawn. Time Traps give you time, that's it. Maybe I never used them properly, but the best use I found for Time Traps was running away to regroup.

Assassination can only be picked once (like a warrior's Smite), but it's worth it for carving your way through a tight group of enemy adventurers. Strangely enough, though, I don't remember being given the option. :skeptic: That may have been because of the Triple-Class HLA Fix, but I'm not sure; might be worth trying without it.

Hardiness is only useful if you know you're about to take damage, and in that case your F/M/T can just Stoneskin.

GWW is great for a single-wielding character, but for someone dual-wielding with Imp. Haste it's a minor bonus. And with both effects lasting only a round IIRC, it couldn't possibly stack with assassination.

Evasion's cr*p, but Greater Evasion can be decent in a regular game. But given that you're Silverstar, you're probably playing Tactics on insane; skip it. :heh:

Critical Hit is arguably THE HLA for warriors, especially playing the harder mods. When even hitting the enemies at all becomes an issue, auto-criticals are pretty damn good.

Greater Deathblow is almost a replacement for assassination against the lower HD enemies. Carve your way through a group of the peskiest magic-using monsters with ease.

So UAI is really not-needed right? As a F/M/T can already use most of the thigs. Maybe wielding Carsomyr could be cool though. What about it? I don'T have a paladin in the group, so extra MR can be of use.

And GWWing with Carsomyr should prove to be fun!

So spike traps are way to go, along with a few TimeTraps I guess?

Yes I am THE Silverstar, and play on insane with all the heaviest mods. :) So evasion is not needed.

What about mage HLAs? And what is the difference with the triple class HLA fix?

The triple class HLA fix restores the bonus spells to the list, since the F/M/T can actually use those. It won't take away your access to Assasssinate. Off-hand the only mod I can think of that would cause that is probably refinements.

The triple class HLA fix fixes the fact you can only choose fighter or thief HLAs with a F/M/T. Somehow the game doesn't seem to give you access to Mage HLAs.

Hmm, it seems that I did get Assassinate and just didn't remember it (probably because I got it as early as I could). But I do remember that it excludes a couple abilities because the HLA screen is absolutely crammed full. Here's a list from checking just now:
    -Deathblow
    -Greater Deathblow
    -Alchemy
    -Scribe Scrolls

Sorry Silverstar, no Deathblow if you install the fix. :bad:

OK I will check it via CLUA console next time ı get home, but can you a little bit clarify things? Pleasee.

With the fix you won't get those four HLAs. Without it, you'll get them but won't get the mage HLAs. Not a difficult choice, but I still miss Greater Deathblow.

Then I don't want mage HLAs, extra spell levels. They are not much of a use compared to GDB. And I can NEVER reach True Dveomors with a 6 persons party so....

BTW my F/M/T has just reached level 12 in magehood and has TWO 6th level spells. Why? Is this a bug? NOT that I don't like it but....

Could it be a Ring of Wizardry?

You can get assassination multiple times, or at least I could, and while it does massive damage and is very useful, the only downside is that it essentially acts like a backstab - meaning some creatures (demons, some bosses, etc.) are immune to backstab therefore making the ability useless against them.

Klorox, you know who I am, you all know me! I am THE Silverstar, the walking mod-advertisement! :shake:

Anyway, Felinoid, I put my ring of Wizardry to a better use, forged a most spiffy Sorcerian Ring and my DS carries it now. NO ring or any other mage-gear on my F/T/M, I even made him completely BARE and he still had TWO level 6 spell slots. Heh, I am NOT complaining here, but still...it is strange indeed.

So assasination is GREAT then? I know ToB bosses are immune to critical hits, are they immune to backstabs too? Please say NO! :(

You have Tactics; they probably made goblins immune to backstab. ;) Give it a try on the humanoid ones. Yaga-Shura will be immune due to his size (jumping backstab? ), Draconis and Abazigal's dragon forms will naturally be immune, Melissan might be due to size, but I've never checked. But Gromnir, Sendai, and Balthazar should be open to it unless they've been changed by a mod.

Err I had fun backstabbing normal enemies so far. SO Assasination can be taken more than once right?

Yep, it can be taken as many times as you want, and I highly recommend it. In addition to some of the battles Fel mentioned, you can use it on all of the enemies you face during the tests in the Pocket Plane, making those battles considerably easier (as you typically can't hide beforehand to get off a conventional backstab).

No, you can only take it once. Believe me, if I'd had the option, my F/M/T would've had ten of them faster than you can blink.

Hmmm... I'm almost positive I've taken it more than once with my multi-classed F/T. However, I DO have ease of use installed, and maybe that allows you to select multiple versions of the same HLA. Are there any other mods out there that can allow you to do this? Like I said, I'm almost positive I've taken it multiple times.

And I'm 100% positive that my F/M/T couldn't, even with EoU (the first thing I installed after ToB). I even loaded up the final save to make sure of how many she had (1), and then CLUAed her some more experience so she could level up; the Assassination box was greyed out, just like the Smite box. Maybe it's different with F/Ts, I don't know, but my F/M/T couldn't and I don't think Silverstar's will either. If he somehow can, that's great, but I wouldn't count on it.

Hmm must be different with F/T's because mine that I finished ToB with had 2 or 3. This is also without mods that would change it (as far as I know). The only mods I had installed were Ascension and the tougher battles that came with it.
