I STRONGLY agree with cross here.
The sword rules in it's class!
Maybe you compare it to BG2 or so, that is where you became a god, exactly what cross stated.
If you finished the game, your savingthrows where so damn high, you got magic resistance, and maybe you forged the hammer: Crom Faeyr
This weapon was sooooo powerfull, raised your strength to 25, slays everything with one hit.
No do you expect that of the Cera Cumat? Become a god with it?? Just stop whining and USE this great sword, a better long sword you won't get

    My thoughts exactly,

I like Cera Sumat just the way it is.

An Aasimar Paladin with a Stength score of 16 and a Charisma of 20 just rocks. Strength gets pumped to 20 with the Little Giant Belt. 4 levels of fighter means +2 damage with the Holy Avenger.

I do prefer a one-handed holy avenger. Mithral Field Plate Mail, shield, and Brazen Bands means my Paladin is still dishing out big time damage while barely getting scratched. A Smite Evil/critical with the Fiendslayer feat will bring a Gelugon half way to dying. I know, I've done it before.

I had the Paladin drink the Potion of Arcane Absorption left by Sherincal, which means Spell Resistance 17. For fights that really count, I cast the Holy Aura spell which brings SR to 42.
In such a state, those evil twins don't stand a chance!

Let's all appreciate that the developers had to contend with an issue called BALANCE. No, they weren't going to hand us an Armaggedon blade for real without cheating. While there is no 'Instant God' sword in the game, properly used, the Holy Avenger is as close as you can get.

The problem is that Cera Sumat is hardly the most powerful sword in the game. If it were, I would have been happy with it.

[IMG] I know i'm not alowed to post the same thing over multiple threads but seeing this is the same thread here it goes:

When using the Weimers Ease-of-use mod where ir turns the Cera Sumat into a greatsword, does it still use the long sword for the specialization feat or does it now use the great sword feat? Did he remember to change that? Just wondering before I choose what to put feats in.

    Thanks

I think he would be the only one capable of answering this question.. why not email him?

PS: sorry I can't test it because my Paladin doesn't have proficiency in great swords and only he can use that sword.

Quint is correct, Cera Sumat is about as useful as a rubber chicken. I found other swords were much more fun, like the Bastard sword or fire and ice, or the poison version.

How can you compare a LONG SWORD with a BASTARD SWORD?! Those are different types of weapon. You have to get an extra feat to use that bastard sword efficiently. Don't misunderstand me; Bastard Sword +3:Cold Fire is really great(I had my cleric use it.)
ALL IN ALL 'CERA SUMAT' HOLY AVENGER IS THE BEST LONG SWORD IN THE GAME.

In the same way that I compare Cera Sumat with a rubber chicken. I prefer the rubber chicken, because it frightens the monsters more...

I'm just gonna borrow this thread since it makes no sense to start a new thread. I'm not an experienced IWD II - still on my second run (and just reached Severed Hand so...). But I completely missed Cera Sumat in my first run and this time I decided to go for it. I hadn't read any spoilers except that it was "gonna be an epic battle" for the sword. Great. And I still have trouble with the Horde Fortress... But I didn't have a paladin! So my sorcerer had to take a level of paladin since... well powergamers said it is good and someone had to wield the sword. Ok - back to the grave, buff my guys and... Damn where did those undead come from? Wow - these guys do a lot of damage! Three Apocalyptic Boneguards? Damn - my Bard and Sorcerer just died! Hit reload... Ok - second try... Summon undead (plus the usual buffing), kill the guys that are most dangerous, avoid getting hit... and that's when I realised that this fight was quite easy even for an inexperienced player. Why? Because of that simple spell "Raise Dead". All my guys were at level 13 - a barbarian, a cleric, a bard, a sorcerer, a druid and the usual R (2)/W (X)... Bottom line - buff your self, summon five undead (1 for the monk, 2 for the dwarf and 2 for the other heavy hitter) and you win easy (and I tried it four times just in case). While the undead occupy the melee threats, the barbarian kills the mage, druid and cleric kills the one who summons all undead, while bard, sorcerer and R/W just tie up the archer. When barbarian kills mage he attacks archer (killing him fast) while druid and cleric attacks monk (and kills him). Then all my guys (plus 3 undead) kills dwarf and then eventually kills the last one. It worked every time. And here is my problem with that - the damn spell is too powerful (and the AI is just plain stupid). Since you only summons Apocalyptic Boneguards and Drowned dead (or something), these guys - the six most evil guys ever - can't do anything. In four tries they killed exactly... four undead (one in each game) and you had three people who could summon more. And the thing that really annoyed me - in one game one enemy (the "other heavy hitter") ignored the undead and went straight for the bard... which meant that the bard just run and eventually all undead and my guys just hammered him to death (since he wouldn't stop chasing the bard). I have the same problem with the Fallen Bladesingers - first time you face them it's a pest! Second time... when you know that all they do is chasing your magic users...

So I got the sword and it's ok. It isn't a disappointment - it isn't great (no Carsomyr here...). But it has a great story and if I had a Paladin I would use it (but it is basicly a chapter to late to justify the use of a Paladin for me...)

I have never summoned Apocalyptic Boneguards or Drowned Dead. I heard the patch removed that kind of stuff from "Animate Dead." Or it's because I have Light of Selune installed, perhaps?

I agree the fight is fairly easy, as long as you've prepared.

The 1st time you attempt the fight, it's epic. Or at least annoying. After that, it isn't hard to disect the individual enemies to find their weaknesses. Considering summons is the way to victory in HoF, is your revelation surprising? The game has it's faults.....

Tharlok, you should install the Tactics mod. It upgrades the Lost Followers quite well.

    http://www.sorcerers.net/forums/showpost.php?p=670418&postcount=13

As for Animate Dead: It was intended to be an Evil cleric only spell, according to the manual. Perhaps to balance the Good/Neutral clerics' ability to shift-click spells to heal.

I'm not an experienced IWD II player - I have only completed the game once. But I'm just saying that it is strange (at least to me) how the AI works. You can "tie up" a group of very powerful individuals with your undead and they are rather easy to overcome. But when the Bladesingers just rush your frail magic-users, you're in trouble (since you don't want your characters to die). I had to reload three or four times against a much easier opponent, just because the "kamikaze-approach" is annoying when you don't know the game as well as others... That being said, I love the story behind it all - the amulet, the graveyard...

Ah yes, the Drow ambush in the Underdark. The Drow Deathsingers have the coolest name of all enemies:cool:. But it's the Assassins and Priestess that are the most trouble.
