We did LOTR, now what about WOT?

Alot of people have chimed in about what classes they think the characters in Lord of the Rings should be. I was wondering if anyone had similiar ideas about Robert Jordan's Wheel of Time.

Here is my take.

Warders - Tough one but I say Paladin. They are loyal and have a little extra more than a fighter. You could make an argument for kensai or swashbuckler since they have elements of both and never seem to wear armor.

Aiel - Again tough. They are kind of a cross between kensai and monk. Since I detest the monk class I would say they are kensai with the spear as their weapon.

Aes Sedai - The whole concept of magic in WOT seems to lean towards sorcerous. Admittedly they need training but they seem to visualize spells as opposed to making mental patterns. I would say they would have to be sorcerors.

Rand - Since kensai/sorceror is impossible, the next best thing is kensai/mage. He definately is an expert swordsman and the most powerful spellcaster on the planet.

There are of course various other thieves, knights, and minstrels in the books. For instance, childeren of the light should be inquisitors or maybe wizard slayers. These are just a few ideas on some preliminary characters.

I think you did a good job so far, keep going. I am interested to hear more. It has been a while since I've read any of the series. I stopped at book three and haven't picked another up.

 

You did fine job but I think that this is even more difficult task than characters in LoTR. In WoT there are no characters who would fit to the AD&D.

 

Thom Merrilin would be bard, maybe a skald. Proficient in daggers (throwing).

Perrin Aybarra would be a beastmaster, with a hint of druid. Specialized in axes.

Matrim Couthon would be a jester. Specialized in a quarterstaff.

I'd think the Aiel would be barbarians. The Warders - - Rangers.

 

I did a wot party not for playing but more for the fun of it i even cluaconsoled them to the (in my opinion appropriate levels)

Rand Kensai/mage 15/25 (of course) 5* in katana and full one weapon style
Mat thief/fighter 10/15 5* in staff (the staffspear)
Perrin was tough he should be a beastmaster ranger but they arent able to use metal weapons so he couldnt use axes so i made him a straight ranger lvl 19
Lan Kensai lvl 20
Moirane cleric/mage 6/15 she can heal but not that good
Nynaeve mage/cleric 10/20 she is stronger than Moiraine and she is a hell of a healer
Thom Skald lvl 18 no comments
Egwene Sorceress lvl 22 she isnt any good at healing
Aviendha Kensai/mage lvl 7/15 she may be strong but hasnt got the training yet

I based all the levels on the end of WH so it isnt their atarting abilities.

 

Perrin also needs proficienty's in the hammer, since he is a blacksmith and likes to use axes AND hammers.
I think that Juilin also has to be included, as a thief, a very very good one.
D*mn, you can only use six characters!

Celestial Fury is like Callandor. It has that nice fire/lighting special ability.

Have you noticed one little thing. Minsc is almost the Warder. He has that witch thing with Dynaheir&Aerie and he is Ranger. I don't know if Gaidins are stupid, or do they have pets(like Boo),but Minsc is Warder, definetly(I love that word).

 

Aes Sedi don't have to be limited to one class (sorcerer) since they all have different skills and abilities. The same would be true with the Ash-Mann (sp?), although most of them would be fighter/mages, but there could be a few straight sorcerers or mages, mage/clerics, or even ranger/clerics (I can't remember all the minor character names and DEFINITELY don't feel like looking them up! )

I think Matt is a Swashbuckler
Perrin is a Ranger (good point on why he can't be a beast master)
Rand is confused! Probably a DC Kensi/Mage - Imagine that, Rand is a power-gamer

 

The Warders should definetly be Rangers, since not one of them has the strict code of honor inherent to a Paladin.

The Aiel on the other hand, or some sort of Monk/Ranger hybrid if you ask me. Or maybe plain and simple fighters ?

 

I role played a WOT based party in BG2 when I first got it ..

My PC was a Multiclassed Mage/Cleric as the Aes Sedai. I chose a fighter as the warder, but in retrospect I agree a Ranger would probably be better..

Your Warder MUST have a Cloak of Displacement, even if it means cheating to get it
