[IMG] This seems to be the most challenging thing so I'll give my "priority" to this campaign. The idea is to solo a pure melee fighter (barbarian / fighter / monk) or thief. Ranged weapons are NOT authorized! :D

Game 1 (HoF from scratch): I've created a solo human monk (CHA=WIS=14, DEX=18 ). He cleaned out the outside part of Targos quays area, killing 5 goblins by bare hands (with an improvised help of 2 wounded dudes out there). Now he started to clean out houses, the most (insanely) difficult will be of course that warehouse + cave with tons of goblins. Edit: Prologue, my monk has level 13 now and he's preparing for the final prologue battle for Targos. LoL he fights with bare hands and he wears nothing. :D His "THAC0" is very good (autohit while invisible), but natural AC=20 sucks totally because of insane +29 hit bonus of goblins.

Game 2 (HoF from scratch + Undead Targos mod): After that Weimer has released his Undead Targos mod (yesterday), I've decided to try a solo (exclusively) melee barbarian. His initial stats: human, DEX=18, STR=CHA=14. I need high DEX mainly for the Hide (in Shadows) feat. Skeletons on HoF are more or less the same as goblins. ;) My barbarian has level 6 now.

    Any insane suggestions?

    Yeah, Monks kick ass! :D

Why not solo a Paladin? At least he can heal himself real quick.

Paladins and rangers can use spells so it would be essentially easier. ;)

Hmmm... looking for a challenge I see... Why don't you try a level 1 solo wizard with no scrolls?

A mage without spells is lame and stupid, but a melee fighter is natural. :p

I did a "semi-solo" sorcerer, the other party members, would level squat and do nothing. It was so hard, just using summons. I think that Tioma, you are very close to "insane" like me. I want to do the solo figher type, but no missile weapons?!

Sorry I won't take you up on that. If I was to take a monk, I would probably go with a Deep Gnome, Svirfneblin, monk because of the +4 generic AC bonus.

    Tioma, you scare me...

LoL, I played a lot of solo HoF games in IWD1 but this solo melee fighter campaign in IWD2 is, indeed, totally insane. I didn't try to optimize a subrace, I just took the first subrace available, that is, humans. ;) In any case, already goblins have +29 bonus to their hits so no chance for straightforward melee battles. Basically, all battles require an insane and total hit-and-run tactic. Though I secretly hope that it would be slightly easier for high-level fighters. :D

Tioma. When I first looked at HoF I took my party that completed the game, and then I levelled them up to 30 by.... cheating, just to see what would happen. At the Shaengarne Ford with level 30 barbarian, full equipment and over 500 hp! he was "raped" by the orcs in less than 3 rounds! Ever since that I realised that these melee tactics in HoF are useless. I have played the sorcerer well, since she never actually "fought" but the idea of combat in the form of run up and hit and run off, seems like it won't work, especially with low level characters. Imagine the arrows piercing the body!

Anyway, have fun trying and then describe it to us. I will at least enjoy hearing how either you, or the goblins, ate the others' hearts out... :D

    Update:

Game 1: LoL, I didn't play during the last 3 weeks because of an insane modding activity. ;) Today I came back to my favourite melee games and I was ready for a very long battle to defend Targos. Imagine my surprise that the last battle was extremely easy and lasted ... 20 minutes! I bought the "Goblin Slayer" short sword and my monk has killed every single goblin ... just in one hit. :D Yeah, he autohits goblins while invisible, so every hit was successful.

Chapter 1, my monk has level 16 and exterminates orcs by bare hands. The life has become much easier. ;)

[IMG] You must be crazy to solo a warrior type in HoF. :whoa:
I really love the idea of soloing but I also think it would be so difficult. However, I will at least try to solo a barbarian(I love them) in normal if not HoF.
BTW why didn't you picked a svirfneblin instead of human?

    Anyway, go and beat them...

Yeah, you are right, it would be slightly easier to solo svirfneblin melee fighters ... but I like humans. :p

I gotta ask, I heard some things about starting a lvl 1 monk in HoF.
Does this mean, solo normal mode first, then import the semi-high lvl character in HoF
Or does this mean that you are really starting HoF with a lvl 1 char??
If yes, is it even possible to kill a goblin in HoF at lvl 1?
I do understand that the levels will go REALLY fast, at level 1 solo in HoF, but I can't imagine that it's possible to start HoF at lvl 1

Can someone clear this up for me?

    Thanks!

Yes, it's possible to create a new character at the start of a HoF game. But... he will never be able to kill a goblin by himself. Tioma lets the various dock-area citizens help him kill the first goblin, but he must have excellent timing, because he has to deal the final blow or lose the xp.

Thanx, Quint, for explaining it! ;) HoF from scratch with a solo melee character is not really a party of pleasure. It's a pure challenge. Outdoor goblins is still OK since you can use an "improvised" help of NPCs present at Targos Docks. Now the warehouse + cave is very tedious (and somewhat cheesy).

I'd be unable to play at this difficulty level if I didn't play a lot IWD1 on HoF from scratch before.
