[IMG] I use a one handed hammer and a battle axe for my dwarf. What do you prefer?

I think that one was a spam.

I prefer the axe, like slashing more than blunt weapons.

A dwarf, with a big, nasty, two-handed axe. Hammers are not my style.

But in BGII, I used to use Hammers-> They were usefull and there were some nice magic ones aviable.

There are some very cool axes in IWD2. Haven't found anything spectacular in the hammer department, so my vote is definitely for axes.

My dwarf likes axes. The bigger the better. ;)

But as one handy with stonework he can use a nice hammer also.

He dual-wields some very nice hammers. Don't remember what kind, but they have some magic in them. He uses them when special operations are in need. Normally a two handed axe is his "baby".

If I would have a Stormlord of Thalos, he would wield a hammer. Why? Just because. It seems to me the right choice. Of course it should have some "electrical" or "shock" damage.

In reality I tend to equip weapons of different damage types to all my character (exceptions allowed). Because, sometimes they can meet something with damage reduction or resistance.

Well, if you want to get the Maximized Attacks feat you have to choose two weapons to develop points in. So there you have it, pick both. Throwing Axe of Shocking Burst is my favorite axe. Brutal Impact is my favorite Hammer.

Hammers are great, and there are a couple I really like - Brutal Impact and Valorfoe. In my current four-piece I have a Duergar Stormlord who uses a hammer and shield or two-handed axe configuration for melee.
Hammers are also bludgeoning weapons which are the most advantageous weapons in IWD2, as many enemies have some piercing or slashing resistances, but few have bludgeoning resistances.

I'm a cleric! What else should I say?

*still waiting for the RPG with a sledgehammer or 2-handed mace*

    I agree.

For a tank, especially if it is your only one, or your primary one, using at least 2 weapons that inflict a different type of damage is essential, imho. slashing/piercing for one, and bludgeoning for the other...

personally, I like to go for the maximized attack feat as well since I typically only have one tank, so I will specialize in axes and hammers, so that I have 2 different types of damage, plus there are some decent 2 handed axes for huge damage, as well as some throwing axes so that he can have some missle capabilities when needed... same for hammers, there are some throwing hammers that are nice to have as a missle option as well...

[IMG] I think it's kinda strange anyone here have Icewind dale 1 without the expantion. it used to seem normal but now it just dosen't seem right since then you couldn't equip 2 wepons my Dwarf used to have a axe and a sheild or a hammer and a sheild if you think about it it seems weird.

    Hey nice! :)
Gotta try that game soon! But I often dislike futuristic games. This one would be nice enough, I guess.

*still waiting for an Epic RPG with a sledgehammer or 2-handed mace* :p

Nuhn, Warriors of Might and Magic:

They have a MASSIVE 2-handed mace called "Karmic Fury" It looks like a Huge, massive headed lamp post with a firey center...

Anyways, as far as this goes.. I tend to agree. Dual Weild, one of each!! ^_^

The max attack/Two Specializations is a valid point. I don't see the point in throwing weapons, however.

If you want to attack at a ranged opponent.. Cast!

my dwarf almost always has an axe be it one or two handed, however in IWDII there are certain enemies that only bludgeoning (spelling) damage will work on. something to consider when making your choice.

I'm still preferring both, depending on enemy - hammers versus golems and skeletons, axes for soft targets. It's a question of effectivity for me as my fav weapon are the bastard sword and recently the spear anyways :shake:
