[IMG] Ok as the title would lead you to think i got IWD2 for xmas and having played it for about 2 hours (although that's including a good deal of time spent making my characters) and it's great :)

I have a couple of questions though -
    Do helmets actually do anything?
Why does my female gnome illusionist have the male gnome game avatarr (sp?) ?

Can't think of any more questions right now. If i do i will edit my post.

    Hi,

Helmets don't do anything unless they have special magical abilities. But they do protect you against critical hits I believe..
Anyway this was the case in BG2.

And your other question, that's just a bug

    Game on! :)

Is the bug fixable? Or should i just accept that theres a transvestite in the party?

Is 2.01..... (the .....'s are lots of numbers but the .01 is definite) the latest patch?

Helmets in IWD2 do not protect from anything, not even critical hits. If they do anything, you'll find it in their description. If there's nothing in the description (all helmets have that), then they're purely decoration.
There is few other head gear that is useful, but not helmets (I think only 1 helm that look like one actually is useful).

Ok 2 other questions - Not sure about the skills rank thing. I get stuff like - Hide: 4 (2). Is the (2) how many ranks or something else? Also what does trained only mean? How does one become trained?

Also in some of the armour it has Armour Penalty (or words to that effect) -3 or -10 or something like that.

    All help greatly appreciated :)

Trained only means you have to be a certain class.
The number in the brackets means the bonus from race/class whatever like... Halflings = Hide 14(9) It is 14 but remove race bonus it is 9 - IIRC :hmm:

Armour penalties I think refers to removing dex bonus or something like that :hmm: might be from the actual AC - I'll have to check :xx:

The 2nd number about skills is the number of ranks you have in it, while the first is the total. Trained only means you need at least one rank in it to use it, so you cant just rely on your stat and other bonuses.
Armour penalty is a penalty to the thieving-like skills (hide, disable device ect). If you are not proficiant with the armour you get panalty to attack rolls and 'any action that reqiure movement'.
