Check the IWDII walkthrough in the sorcerers.net IWDII section.( :p )

But congrats, you are now in the most boring dungeon ever in a D&D adventure.

Don't post multiple topics about the same problem, please.

For all of this you need to use that lab to brew potions. You need wyvern poison potions to open the grey door (if I'm right about the one you're talking about).

They eye will only let you pass if you are of the snake-people's race. So, you need to find a way to transform one of your people temporarily (this also has to do with the potion lab as well as the guy you rescued in the jail)

The WALKTHROUGH really does walk you through the entire process, step-by-step, in an enormous amount of detail. Enough that, since you installed and have found a grasp of the 3rd edition rules, you will be able to read and understand.

Print it out, and read it before you go to bed. Use a highlighter to mark the part that you'll need on Sunday morning, after you get back from Church and have the computer all to yourself.

First you have to find the lab. There's green "splotches" of glowing magic-like effects in inside the lab. The walkthrough and map function will help you narrow down the places where it could possibly be.

There are two tables in the lab. One that is used to brew the Histachii potion; the other to brew the poison potions. The direction "East" is toward the right of your screen; "West" is to the left. You'll want to make two Histachii, and like 6 or 8 poison potions.

You have to have the ingredients to brew them. Look through the walkthrough to find the ingredients and their positions. You place them on the table, and either have someone with a alchemy skill of 16 or so, pull the chain. Or you have to have the bluff/intimidate skill necessary to bluff/intimidate the lab technician.

After that, you pick one single person to drink the potion, and walk past the eye. Also, give one potion to the "professor".

No kidding. These are the parts that make ID2 kinda lame: running all over the place trying to find items so you can open doors and move on. What happened to the hack and slash--when its there its great, but it aint there enough.
