[IMG] I really need some help on how to combat Iyatchtu Xvim in Ch6 of Iwd2. I'm not sure if there is a trick to him but I hope there is, because I can barely get 1 hit on him before he destroys my whole party  .

If you remind me who is iachtahi Xvim I'll probably be able to help you.
If he is the god you're supposed to fight he wasn't that difficult, he was more like very very resilient to damage, he must have had one or two thaousand hitpoints. I just used some summons as cannon fodder and killed or dominated his minions first

yes, he is the evil god i had to fight, but he seems to be resistant to all types of damage.....even from my barbarian during a rage. what weapons seem to hurt him the most?

I used delayed blast fireball to waste most of his summonned demons and then hacked the other two. I surrounded him as much as possible with my own summoned things and kept on repeating this. I then used my 2 main fighter types to hack away. Admittedly it took literally 10 minutes to kill him but it is possible. Don't bother with magic to harm him, just protect yourself and bash! Try the Bardic War Chant of Sith to help regenerate your fighters. The god is not a very good fighter. Hope this helps.

I hope this helps. The God is not resistant to bludgeoning damage. So use weapons like maces, morningstars, and hammers. This will do full damage. Also he is vulnerable to lightning damage.
If you have a high level spell caster try using chain lighting. It worked well for me. He can only attack one character at a time so use this to your advantage and keep your spellcasters out of his spell radius when he cast spells. I did this by placing my spellcasters at the foot of the other god statues and used my tanks to draw the deity to the southern part of the screen.

I was attacking him at that time with +5 weapons so if you have a +5 weapon it will bypass his damage reduction, I had one of those greatswords of the soulless every fighter in that chapter carries which is great and I also had randomly got previously a +5 slashing greataxe which did an additional +2d6 slashing damage and it worked aswell, when some fighter got badly damaged I just made him run around a lot and use healing potions. I remember summons didn't do much damage, plus I remember having bought +5 arrows so my bard did damage too

I just killed him with my solo sorceress by using a lot of lightning, chain lightning, prismatic spray... that got him down to about half? I think. He took a solid 80 dmg lit hit from spray heh... anyway, I just hasted myself and finished him off with my staff. Was kinda hard, had to heal a bunch but hey.

I got pasted too the first time. Went back reloaded, and pumped my guys up with hastes, stenght boosters, aid, and any other spell/potion I had with me. That took care of him and his cronies pretty quick. Never underestimate the power of a straight fighter who has been enhanced by clerics and sorcerers. Can you say Cuisinart???

I summoned up a few wights and mummies to tie up Xvim, and I sent my company to take on his demons. Then I sent my company to attack him in h-t-h...luckily for me, (without using a lower resistance!) I disintegrated him...on my 5th try...hehehe
