I think it was sort of a mix of both. It was fun and all good for a while. But after roaming around for nearly four hours, making notes on my area map and trying different directions untill I found new areas, I began to think somewhat differently...

Once you know where in theHell you are going.. It's not so bad.. I thought the final map, and the place with the dead thief was cool..

The treants were funny too.. hehe..

Two options: Wilderness Lore or SP Walkthrough :p

I would never go through the lengths of marking my maps and whatnot.

Overall, I enjoy FellWood. It's not that long, especially if you have Wilderness Lore. And all you need is a few points in it for one character. I do it just to see what it says about each area.

[IMG] I had a character with wilderness lore. Worked pretty good.

    I made an excel sheet:

    FROM N NE E SE S SW W NW

Where I marked possible directions. When done with quests (finding directions using wilderness lore) then mapped the entire wood in this sheet.

For me this was fun. I like exploring. An more - my cleric could use his turn undead here and later in Kuldahar. Why should I stop him in enjoying it? :)

[IMG] It had to have some purpose in the game, coz I sure didn't find it much good anywhere else...

At first, i was playing nice, imagine myself wondering in the wilderness with the aid of wilderness lore from my druid. i used her to understand a new area better, anticipating what kind of enemies i will face. But that was just chapter 1. As i play the game more and more, wtf, just charge in and fight, i can always reload.

    To Urghazi:

Yes, wilderness lore helps in Fellwood. But sometimes a character needs to try more then once. Sometime it says something like: 'Your tracking skills reveal nothing about this location'. When tried several times it works.

Hey - it's just like throwing a dice, only it is a generated random number + your skill compared to a constant for location. Therefore you need to have some points in this skill to achieve a goal of learning something about locations.

"Just like all another skills it works."

I have put 15 points into wilderness lore for my dwarven barbarian. I have never gotten one bit of good out of it so it could be considered a complete, useless, waste. The only skills my dwarf has are wilderness lore and intimidate, both at 15.

[IMG] IMHO, wilderness lore is useless. Nobody should ever waste skill points on it. It's useless. Period.

From a role-playing standpoint it's not useless. In a party of six characters, surely you have room to give someone a few points in wilderness lore, like a ranger, druid, or barbarian.
But if you don't want to, that's an option as well. But having it is not a burden. There's plenty of skill points to go around.

It would have been painfully boring if i hadn't known about the wilderness skill or SP.

[IMG] I dont think there is a word to describe this F***ING GODDAMN place. Especially when you don't have wilderness lore or when you use it it says always the same thing. :almostmad: :grr: :flaming:
