[IMG] Do you get to go to the underdark in IWD2? If so is it as awesome as the one in BG2? Do you get to go around the town of the underdark and talk to all the drown and visit their bars and such?

    No.

You go down to the "underdark", but it's not anything like BG2's, or the books.

There's some references to places *in* the underdark, but that's about as underdarky as it getz.

I just realized, after thinking about this question, what it is that doesn't hold to the Icewind Dale1 atmosphere.

    There's too much dialogue in IwD2. =)

All you do is pass through some tunnels under the Spine of the World. The tunnels also lead into the underdark proper, but that isn't covered in the game. A few outposts of the underdark races are around, so they can take advantage of the easy surface access. But all the real settlements are out of the play area.

A firend of mine said this and, I also agree, that they have overdone it a bit in blackisle with the underdark, pretty much EVERY adventuring group that wants to be called decent passes through the underdark, from what I've read and from my limited experiences the underdark is a very difficult place to go to and not many people would even dare go there.

Well i enjoyed underdark and i want Ma- oops almost spoiled the fun :) The underdark is just a simple dungeon with lots of monsters in it - nothing special about it. Wish it was a town though.

Well, you visit the Underdark in BG2 and in IWD2, but both times its with pretty high level parties. In IWD2, you barely even count as being in the Underdark, more or less just passing by an underground entrance. And in BG2, you have tons of supernatural assistance.

Its not like you are just waltzing in with your BG1 party and kicking butt.

I really think Interplay and Bioware should make a strictly underdark game. The races would be Deep gnomes, duergar, drow, maybe even mind flayer? and what not... That would be so cool, the atmosphere might be a bit depressing but there would be so much they could do with it. I also thought it would be cool if they made in all their games half-dragon as a race and at level 23 or something you could shapechange into a dragon at an expense of losing 1 attribute point permenantly... For those times you need to kick a lot of ass fast.

[IMG] You go through a tunnel with some hook horrors and driders, that's about it. Much different from BG2...
