Yeah I played Dungeon Master too, but on the Amiga 500. That Machine was sweet. Everything I played on the Amiga that they tried to convert to the IBM PC just wasn't the same, Dune II, The Settlers, *Classics*. Dungeon Master had little story, but it didn't even cross your mind because it was so immersive, so fun. You guys have probably played Wizardry 8, but what about 6 and 7? Never have I had such glee as equipping my Ninja (sorry, not a faerie one, so no cane corpus :( ) with the *LIGHT* *SWORD* and casting nuclear blast and asphyxiate on like 50 Ratkins. My old man brought me up on RPGs, so I haven't played the old Wizardry or Might and Magic from 1-5, only the newer ones, nor have I played the old Bards Tale games, but I used to watch him, and they were just on a whole 'nother level.

There was another old one, but I can't remember the name... You only had two characters and you got teleported from typical mediaevel England into a desert world where the whole game took place. You could pick up NPC's like a troll with rock and thorn armour, and you had to kill an evil mummy to go back home. It was really a good RPG if anyone can remember what I'm talking about.

Lands of Lore (the first one, I shudder to think of the Sequels) was OK, but more people have played that.

Revenant was a good Hack-and Slash Hybrid, as was Harbringer, new games and I wouldn't really call them RPGs, but they were still fun to play.

Another old one I forget the name of was a single person game, but you ended up recruiting a talking sword, and you had to build a trunk or casket to contain some evil presence, you casted spells by drawing symbols in the air, and could steal peoples souls - but in a nice way.

Not good with names sorry. :)

Could the game you are thinking of be "The Illusion of Gaia" or the "Secret of Gaia"? I remember it being a party based RPG that took hours to complete. Not much for graphics, but an immersive story line.

illusion of gaia is ok but the sequel, terranigma is one of the best rpg's for snes. also breath of fire I and II, are quit fun.
secret of mana or seiken dentetsu 2 as it is called was a good rpg, specialy the realtime fighting part. but seiken dentetsu 3 is much more fun, becouse their are about 7-9 lead char's, each with a good and evil ending.
