Yikes. I logged in ten mins ago and saw the invite and ended up activating both.

@BBR - Hey man, I didn't mean to hog 'em, just that I read Faragon's post saying he was all out of 'em, so I'd PM'd you. Is there anyway I can cancel the invite once I'd signed up for it??

I didn't mean to hog 'em, dude, seriously.

Sorry bout that. If there is any way to cancel the account or return the invite or something, lemme know.

Did you sign up for both codes or just one?

If it's just one, you can still use the code to send it to someone else.

I think I've signed up for both, only with different login names.

Is there any way to get the Gmail people to close the account and return the invite?

I don't think so. But invites are in abundancy anyway, so it doesn't really matter.

Hehe, 1000MB sounds much smarter than 1024... google marketing is perfect, certainly.

I don't know much about GMail, it might be just a prejudice but I find 1000MB email space useless. It's too much to be filled by normal mails, unless someone gets tons of photos and videos. Of course there is the 10 megabyte attachment size limit as well.
Obviously, you can use the ~1GB space only for e-mails and their attachments.

It's simply just a marketing trick (as we see, the big rivalry between the free-mail providers has become even greater), I'm sure they analyzed it and estimated what percent of the GMail users will ACTUALLY use all of the space.

That's not the only marketing trick they pull here.
The whole BETA thing with the invites is almost certainly a markting trick too. So much better than just releasing it. The way they do it now it get's spread to people who normally wouldn't have heard of it or would have cared about it. And there's the whole thing where people feel like they are lucky to get the invites which creates this mystic thing around Gmail.

    I love it !!

1 gig of space is nice, but I have found that "Autocomplete=off" feature annoying -prevents you from just logging in, checking mail, and logging out without typing anything. :nolike:
